Looking a tad bit more interesting over the channel as things progress northwards..

Not quite as balmy as our usual import evenings. Flipping cool out there

We've to come in, but as soon as Gardeners' World is over, I'll go back out.... Rock 'n' Roll.

Well at least drop more rain looks certain as the radar still suggests a northward trek...lightning embedded..

Just by chance I heard some noises outside and looked out the window (not thunder!) but I saw 3 flashes to the south in the process.

Oh sadly. It's just 7.4°C.. hasn't got that 'feels like a storm coming' feeling to it with the high humidity and the temperature probably still over 20°C at this time.

Yep, gave up. Came inside to find the OH watching what I assumed was YouTube. Turned out it was BBC1.

A little bit of rain here now, but nowt special. An easterly wind has really picked up and it's pretty darn cold. Also managed to detect 10 instances of lightning from out in the channel, no visible flashes though.

A bit of moderate rain here tonight but nothing else. Might have seen some distant lightning if I was on the clifftop but otherwise there was nothing to see here.

8.3°C

The heavy overnight rain missed us by a whisker.  Total from the system is 6.9mm and the ground is drying out already.

Impressive radar this morning, looks like a LOW right over the region.

It seems quite feasible, given what has happened in the first 16 days and the forecast from tomorrow, that all of April’s rain might come in about one 24 hour period!

Will update the mm once it stops.

We ended up with 16mm of rain yesterday from 10am till 3pm.
Was dry all afternoon and evening.
Just after midnight another rain spell till 4am, bought another 9mm.

Aaaaah, that bought the slugs out yesterday evening and noticed some this morning.

Dry this morning, but cloudy.

Waited for hopes of something storm wise, yet as noted the temperature seemed to punch the main area fairly hard, and for most of the night we sat just too far west for anything decent rainfall wise... lightning detector was busy though, showed the below and some other events earlier (off scale)

Meanwhile this morning a cool start, currently 8.7°C, perfect weather to clean the conservatory glass on the inside..

A very useful 12 mm from yesterday and overnight. Had one brief torrential shower in amongst other rain yesterday afternoon but otherwise nothing exciting.

Hi everyone

I hope you’re all keeping safe and are in good health?

I’m after some help. I’ve got an infestation of leather jackets in my 1 year old Lawn I’ve ordered and received parasites that will hunt them down and kill them, but I can’t apply it until soil temperature is at least 10c.

Has anyone got an accurate reading for my general geographical location?

thanks

Karlos

I woke up to two slugs who had invited themselves in through my bedroom window and were sliming their way down the frame. Nice.

Hi Karlos!

I can't give you an accurate reading where you are, but soil temps here at 10cm down are around 13 - 14°C. 5cm down they are 16 - 17°C.

Looking at the sat... chasing that patch of clear sky to the east of the IOW edging west..

Karlos, similar to you but my garden suffers from Chafer bugs, and plan to use Nematodes to remove then. Big issue is the supply has arrived late, so most are now fully grown. So what you say, well the moral of this is that it's better to apply this in the Autumn rather than the spring I think (of course the view is mine and we have many gardening folks on here, who will probably disagree). Amywayz..given you will have a limited window to apply these as their use by date is usually fairly short, with next weeks daytime temps in the mid to upper teens and night temps down to around 7C, unless we get a frost I think you just have to apply it as early as you can as the day temps warn up..I plan to apply mine this week as it has just arrived today..
