Met Office warning for 20-30mm of rainfall has been in place since 3pm today for my area, have only had 3.4mm. Seems they did not need to warn about this!

Cloudy day today, with some sunshine at times but showery rain on and off. The high was 10.8°C

Currently cloudy and 10.0°C. Another incredible overnight temperature for January!

Same here, a paltry 5.7mm and the rain event is now over. They got Monday and Tuesday right but today just didn't happen here, for rain or the potential wind strength. Yes it did rain for a few hours but yellow warning territory? Definitely not.

Same here. Compared to just 4 days last January.

Did not get too much rain here.
3.4mm yesterday and 1.6mm since midnight.

Not seeing a rain symbol on any of our forecasts for the next week and more.
A cold spell for the weekend, which will make a welcome change.

Sun is out now,
Was 10.9c at midnight after a high of 12.4c midday yesterday afternoon.
Now 8.5c

Some overnight feisty showers add another 7.6mm to our monthly account, and waiting in the wings sits another larger area of precipitation heading eastwards. The MOD thread appear to have burnt itself out after yesterday's spell of mad enthusiasm for colder outlook, when will people learn not to take one days worth of model output (especially 10days out) to heart? The unlikely event has come home to roost, this morning as sullen tPV ain't going nowhere and the flat Atlantic see's us into Feb (well into as well).

This mornings temp still hovering around the overnight low 7.2°C at: 08:18

Lively echoes on the radar last night. Damage reported

Jo, from the local newspaper this morning, hopefully Matt11 can clarify as he lives close to this...

RESIDENTS were awoken in the middle of the night as a "tornado" left a trail of damage through their properties in the early hours.

There was a torrential shower at that time but I didn’t notice anything else here. Looks like it was down the other end of Barton on sea which is about a mile away from me.

Yes that’s the one. Brief torrential downpour but no thunder with it.

And so the pressure rise begins. What are peoples prediction for the South and South West? I'm going for 1051mb somewhere around Somerset (Bristol/Weston Super Mare).

I'm hoping to beat 1044mb set in 2013 locally!

Just driven through a very heavy hail/soft hail/sleet shower. Temp 3.8C. Lovely cloudscape before it too.

This is what January weather off the Atlantic should be like!

The local rag is out there scaring people again...

It cites:

A COLD weather alert has been issued by the Met Office for Dorset.

The Met Office says there is “a 70 per cent probability of severe weather/icy conditions/heavy snow” over the coming days.

The alert is valid from 6pm on Sunday until 6pm on Tuesday.

Reading the article, nowhere did the MetO even mention that figure...

I am begging this incoming HIGH to give us hard frosts that at least linger all day in the shade. But I would love it to give freezing fog, rime and dare I want the oh so rare crystallised fog snow!

Will the extremely wet ground help or hinder minima?
