Broken cloud with some sunny intervals and calm after gusty winds overnight, when the temperature was actually highest.

Some patchy sunshine earlier, but the cloud is thickening quickly, so I suspect precipitation wont be that long before it arrives here. Temperature pretty much flatlined..11.8°C

A quick burst of heavy rain to start here, before settling to moderate.

Tomorrow looking decent, which is of no use to us. Back to the gloom in time for Saturday.

Just stood in the garden watching lots of scuddy clouds swirling around over head as the sun was setting.

It was splitting a bit, so stood under the brew shed roof.

Absolutely chucking it down - BS34.

Weather guy on local ITV news just said "showers, clearing". Showers!? It has been incessant for last 2 hours.

Rain here in Stroud is amazing... every road on a long hill is a river, and the lower roads are a foot under water. It’s coming off the fields. It’s been bad in places here before, but I’ve not seen so much flowing water on so many roads. Damn, shame it’s not 0c! Proper buried...

Very heavy rain for a time this evening and lots of surface water flooding driving between meetings.

Impressive stuff for January!

Windy overnight with showers throughout the morning. Some heavy rain around lunchtime here, and further patchy rain throughout the evening. Wind has died down for the mean time and the skies have cleared allowing the temperature to fall from today’s max of 11.8°C to... 5.9°C

Sunny start to the day, however rain soon came in and became heavy during the afternoon, high reached 12.2°C at around 11am, very impressive for January.

Looking over averages so far this winter and it is no surprise to see locally that temperatures are above average. December's average was 6.8°C, which is 1.1°C higher than usual (December average 5.7°C) and January so far is around 7.9°C which is 2.1°C above my local average!

Winter 2019/20 is going the right way in breaking records for me!

It’s easy to forget after all the mild nights that in mid winter the lowest temperature is generally around sunrise!

Dropping still now under a clear sky, down to 3.4c (bone chilling hey!!) whereas at 07.30 it was above 5c.

The heaviest of the rain missed here yesterday, only 2.2mm.  Had a similar set up to jtay shortly before sunset with just a hint of the end of a rainbow.

Sunny throughout today with the odd cloud floating about, but it makes a change but back to business as usual tomorrow. Max 8.0°C

Turned out a nice dry and sunny day yesterday after a grey showery Thursday 4.7mm (first daily rain spell for the month over 2mm). Still low rainfall for the month so far at only 11mm, most of which has been light showers and drizzle.
Temp was dropping late yesterday evening from the 8.5c midday high to a 5.6 low around 9pm and then rose to 8c at midnight and has been on the rise since then. Now 10.3c.
SSW Wind has picked up here this morning, 10-14mph with plenty of 20-25mph gusts.

Looks like a nice weekend here, before the stronger winds and rain set in for Monday and Tuesday.

Thanks Knocker, it does look as though today's rainfall wont quite make here by midnight so we could well be in for a dry here...
