wouldn't surprise me if 3 months from now, this location hasn't seen a flake of snow, very possible I think, completely un heard of pre '98

Just had a quick look at Hadcet averages for Autumn[Sept, oct, nov]

since 1998 we have had only 2010 and 2012 average below 10 deg [9.8 each]

The 1990s gave 2,the 80s gave 3

It remained around 4 per decade back to the 1920s where there were 5[interesting as this was a mild spell]

Going back further pre 1895 there are 8 or 9 per decade on average,....Cold!

Such short memories from some in the model discussion thread, it's beggars belief!

I was just having a read from an old thread back in late November, where some members were lambasting others for calling out zonal weather, to the point of saying that they were wrong. I'm afraid it was the other way around.

Yes you can receive a stake threw the heart and a garlic necklace for mentioning mild.18z GFS shows a cold high and it's a 47 love in after calling it a rubbish model since November, very odd

The hero worshipping is also an issue certain members could post a frozen sausage and it would receive epic likes, again odd

Perhaps better for a few’s health if they didn’t oscillate between unrestrained euphoria and abject despair.

'like' system is false, wrongly used and should be axed. posting style on model thread would change, no likes for certain members, just for being them, we know who, but if I posted same sausage, no likes

Agreed, it's quite off putting. Certainly makes me less likely to comment or ask a question. Getting upset or too excited over a model 5 days in the future that hasn't happened is peculiar. I understand some disappointment and some excitement, but to feel loss over something that was never really there just doesn't make sense.

I'm definitely writing off the first half of winter!

I just can't see how this annoying pattern will break allowing weather to approach from a colder direction.

We can only hope that something changes during January but I'm not optimistic that it will happen.

Could it be, that proper winter has now become a thing of the past in UK?

Some experts already predicting that Southern UK climate will become similar to South of France by 2050?

Yep. Forget it. Only hope we all see some decent cold and snowfall. Eventually.

One hope I hang onto is getting two decent spells of snow right down on the South Coast (Poole, Dorset) back in early and then mid March 2018. So all is never lost even at that stage.

Agree, its one reason i rarely post now, you take the time to give an assessment of what the models are actually showing, then a certain ramper gets on his phone , posts a close up of a minor  area of high pressure forming over kazakstan and get 25 likes!

Want a repeat of February 2019 in February 2020.  Hopefully make the exceptional weather last the rest of the year too.  I find I'm fed up of the cold by February.

Although whopping great snowdrifts would be my personal favourite, for February, day after day of 19C+, with copious amounts of sunshine, is, without doubt, my #2!:oldgood:

To be honest, I accepted ages ago that snow is becoming increasingly rare, and now I just embrace what we get - if it’s going to be mild then we might as well break a few records. 20C on Christmas anyone? Would we even be surprised at this point?
