I can't believe how little coverage this is getting. One of the most densely populated parts of the world is about to feel the impact of a c5 hurricane and it doesn't seem to be as newsworthy as it should

I suppose that given most of the buildings can stand a strong earthquake, a bit of wind and flooding shouldn't cause that much destruction.

Not reached Tokyo yet but is expected to later. Let us hope it has moderated by then.

I wouldn't wish weather that severe on anyone tbf. I'd like to watch nature like this unleash itself on an uninhabited island. From afar

Quite agree Frosty and Japan being so heavily populated one can only wish for the best for the people there. Let's hope their earthquake proof buildings are also windproof too. In Tokyo and other major cities will probably be disruption but smaller places where most dwellings are wood there could be dreadful destruction. Hoping it weakens as it comes ashore because right now it is scary!

If it was heading to the States it would have been headline news. Certain countries get more focus from the British media .

When hurricane Dorian was heading for Florida, the British media were talking about it says in advance. In the end Florida escaped.

It’s currently the most-read story on the BBC website to be fair.

They decided to write something on the day of the event. For Dorian it was several days before the expected landfall.

The flooding and damage caused by the rainfall will make this news for days to come, the Japanese dont do disasters in a small way.

Plus they probably don't whinge about why the British media take USA weather events more seriously either, they are an industrious race that concentrate on contingency planning and mopping up operations more than worrying about what the media say.

Well it's a beautiful morning in Shizouka, lets hope the rivers dont do their worst and everything recovers quickly.

I can see the F1 going ahead , bit unsure about the rugby.

With hosts Japan to qualify if the game is called off, I fully expect the game to be called off.

They probably hope that Samoa beat Ireland so that Scotland and Japan would qualify if the game was called off.

This looks a bit silly now
