My late Dad told me the best place in the South East of England to snow was Kent. I do not know if that is true anymore.

Two sets of GFS ensembles for London there, the 1st is 12z yesterday and the 2nd is 06z today.

We have slightly more chances of snowfall on this mornings 06z run, the periods of interest are 28th and 29th of January with upto a 30% chance, so Katherine would be nearest to these dates in the competition, and also the period from 5th - 10th of February with a 20% chance on the 8th of Feb, so Timbo looks to be in pole position for this slot with his prediction of 10th of Feb.

The good thing about living in Prague is that it's right in the middle of Europe, you can be in Austria, Italy or Germany very quickly, no ferries or flights to worry about, you can drive or just jump on a train. My cousins wife is czech but they live in Northern Italy, they are up and down all the time by car, they usually stop off first in the Dolomites, then Austria, and they usually send me these fantastic pictures of winter wonderlands, they both love the snow, no pics this year though, yet. Actually her father lives in the mountains in Slovakia, some lovely places there too.

I've not been over that way in about 25 yeas, I bet things have changed a fair bit in that time.

I can confirm that when I lived in Sussex, I often found more snow in kent. In fact it snowed one Christmas in the 80's I believe although where I lived we hadn't even had sleet. Even good for thunderstorms. My dear dad used to take me on 'a chase' to find storms and we often ended up some where in Kent as well.

It’s been another crappy day. It’s been a chilly  5 all. It became very misty here from around 2-3 pm. I’m a bit confused about this weeks weather. One forecast I have read said that it’s going to be cold for the beginning of the week with a very very very very very very very thin chance of snow another one says that it’s getting warmer  I have no idea what’s going on this week.

A day 10 tease on tonight's ECM and just watch it disappear like that rogue day 10 northerly a week or so back.
