Another cold dark miserable November day here in locksbottom.Max temp reached was 6.8 and as at 3.45 was 5.7 and rain started falling here about 2.45.Looks like a miserable evening with some persistent moderate rain likely.Really has been a chilly first half of November and am guessing could be on for one of the coldest November’s for maybe 10 years if the trend continues.

Time for a glass of Malbec to warm the cockles???

Dunstable got a good snow cover but melted in the afternoon. Hills around the area did ok. I drove to the highest point in the Chiltrens to have my snow fix. Some photos from Wendover Wood this mornin

Shower cloud lit up nicely by the low sun earlier this evening north of Heathrow where I work.

Nice bit of snow here this morning, so that means it won’t go down as one of the worst winters I can remember but only by the skin of its teeth . Photos below ?

Just back from a long dog walk.

Can’t  believe how wet and bogged the ground is here. Well I can actually with the relentless rain just didn’t realise the severity of it.
Need a very long dry spell to balance things out now, but with 4 more winter months of this, it’s only going to get worse.

You've got a crystal ball?...not necessarily, November and December are generally wetter than January and particularly February but yes once the sun gets to a certain level in the sky it does take some drying out...

Ah I could do with a nice Malbec right now to warm me up.
I done Go Sober for October and carried it through to November.

But with all this rain I don’t know how much longer I can last ?

There are currently 280 flood warnings and alerts across the UK, including local towns by the Thames. The Thames is indeed very high at Staines. Think we could do with several weeks of high pressure/less rain.

Horrible non-day here. No sun, no rain, no wind. Nothing but grey. But at least I did come across the most incredible fungi 'flower' on my walk. At least something is enjoying this weather.

A much better day here after an early ground frost. Some reasonable sunny spells making it very pleasant out and about. The highlight was some lovely skies this afternoon as the lowering sun peeped through the high level cirrus and cirrostratus.

After a wet afternoon, heavy snow here in Prague now with surfaces quickly going white! October/November Fog Index accurate as had plenty of dense fogs in the last few weeks.

Looking dire here for snow lovers, so much so that everyone's pinning their hopes on an SSW event in the MOD thread, desperate times.

Temp currently 1.4c, significantly lower than met office app shows! More rain again tomorrow by the looks of things, was hoping for a few dry days as ground so saturated round here.

Can anyone explain why in the mad thread, a few days ago it was game on and now suddenly it's 'winter is over? Surely if the models flipped they can flip back again?? (Ever hopeful lol)

It's interesting to see that the professionals are calling for a fairly substantial SSW mid December. And we all know what happened after the last (successful for the UK cold lovers) SSW in 2018.

Given the time lag of events as a result of this, we 'could' be looking at the potential of something quite spectacular in Jan 2020 (assuming, as always, all the cards fall into place) Otherwise it'll be another close but not quite.

Great to see positive potentials...

Have you forgotten the one we had last-year?

But nonetheless, it's always good to have potential!:yahoo:

I chose to ignore that one ha ha - I'll edit to be accurate as you're right that technically was the last one ?

Beautiful crisp frosty morning here.
Making the most of the few days of dry weather this week before more rain sets in.

Yes, this is a proper good November morning.
My nearest weather station says -2.7.
