That system quite a bit further north than forecast. Another soggy morning. 6c. March certainly carrying on where February left off. Wet spring ahead i reckon.

It's not the first time the forecast for "southern counties" is a bit off to put it kindly. If you listened to BBC forecasters bleating how this would be a much better week last Sunday you'd be forgiven for wondering why this is possibly going to turn out the wettest week of all down here just without the wind.

They ie MET etc just cant seem to get a handle on systems moving through the channel. Never have been able to. Very strange in this day and age. Just lmagine if the temps ans DPs were 6 degrees lower!

We were supposed to be on the periphery but its tracked about 20 miles further north so its lashing down here

sods law - on the periphery for rain & it goes North > predicted snow & it would have gone south.

5c & horrific out there

Wrong forecast, last night forecast had this rain skirting along the channel coasts...so we now have another dreadful day to look forward to. The last 6 months seem like an ongoing meteorological nightmare!

Because there is consistent low pressure everywhere in the Atlantic...omnipresent low pressure near Iceland/Greenland, you're never going to get any depth of cold with LP always in that vicinity.

Also noticed the North Atlantic SST profiles is cold again which has been the case since 2013, we really need the area south of Greenland to Iceland to be warmer than average which sometimes alludes to heights being set up.

Dreadful morning here in East Sussex.

Would have been epic had cold air been in place and this was all snow but, of course, the precipitation would have come nowhere near us if that was the case.

Properly unpleasant out there. At least the more recent rain was accompanied by mild, this is just properly cold and wet.

Any sign of the HP that was mooted last week to dry things up from next Sunday?

Undoubtedly Met Office would have been spot on and it would have missed us completely if it had been cold enough for snow.

Nope, according to the 10 day forcast from the MET, another 10 days of very wet unsettled weather. Then avain, they said today would be dry so who knows.
