Morning! I've coped ok so far in this heatwave - but last night I couldn't sleep because of the heat (and now I have a a jackhammer outside my window all day ) - so I'll be coffee dependent all day!

Quite  a lot going on to my SW already.

Really hoping we get lucky in terms of storms in the next few days, I have a scorched allotment in need of a downpour.

I finally bit the bullet and bought AC unit 12,000 BTU which was recommended to have to ensure fast cooling. It arrives tomorrow bit expensive ~£300 cheapest I could find for “power” but no more horrible nights.

Sounds about right record cold second half to August  the bedrooms normal temp this heatwave has been 30C being above the kitchen doesn’t help, and being east facing it rarely gets good airflow.

Seems funny everyone banging on about this heatwave we had 1 day here & it's been cold & miserable since. I even had to close windows & put a jumper on yesterday.

Damn sea mist all day long on North Norfolk coast.

The wind has finally eased off now, some patches of mid-level stuff hanging around though.

Temperatures - Arpege going for 34c across London, 32c elsewhere inland. However I must stress that higher temperatures are possible if cloud amounts are lower. Hopefully that chilly wind should clear the far north of the region as a more general easterly sets in.

B&Q have dropped their 9000BTU from £269 to £195. But if you need 12,000 then that’s not a bad price.

keep the receipt - cos if autumn comes this weekend you can always return it

enjoy - I used to get my room down from 30 to a comfy 23 within a little while.

Yes I saw that one I thought about it but I have saved a fair bit over this lockdown, I wanted to make sure I would be satisfied and well with 12,000btu should be perfect! I’m unsure in what order of magnitude it is a step up from 9,000btu.

It’s roasting today feels hotter compared to yesterday humidity 63%.

06z has a raw temp of 36 for London on Wednesday? Are records going to be challenged?

As per other days alot is going to really depend on cloud cover amounts.

Certainly a chance of a top 5 day again today, we missed on by just a small amount on Friday (I think it came in 8th on the end)

Tuesday and Wednesday are certainly capable, just going to be cloud and storms that might limit.

Temp has been steadily climbing all morning and now at 29.4c. There is a lot less cloud and breeze compared to yesterday, so we might edge towards 33 or 34 today.

Nudging 28C here, some random minor cloud cover here and there which appears and disappears.

And here we are, stripping tiles off a roof.

Bonkers. Still, has to be done!

26c at midday here, not as warm as stations further south but hopefully we will catch up a little bit through the afternoon with hazy but mostly cloud free skies.
