Topped off at 31c in East London this afternoon so down a little from yesterday.

Once again, that pleasant little NE breeze has helped along with the cloud - the roast lunch was fine.

Humidex values for mid week in the SE corner is looking like 40oC. It’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better. The trade off - hopefully some cracking storms

EDIT: ignore this - see below

Humidex doesn't use the C or F suffix, it is just a number. 40 shouldn't be confused with 40°C

Ah that’s good to know thanks. In Canada they use it as a feels like number. Apologies to others for misleading info - learning every day

Despite a lot more cloud cover today the temperatures maxed out higher than yesterday locally.

Nearby Herstmonceux recorded 32.8c yesterday with barely a cloud in the sky. Today it reported 33.6c with just weak sunshine occasionally breaking through mostly overcast skies.

For about the fourth or fifth time in the last couple of weeks here it's tried to rain this evening. Each time has seen barely a dozen raindrops reaching the ground.

Much cooler day today than yesterday which was unexpected, very breezy too and already down to 18c now. Perfect summers day today - very warm day, warm evening and cool overnight - ideal.

Hope this heat goes out with a bang. Seems to be a common theme this year for this region to miss out on the storms. No doubt NW England gets hit with a tornado, hail and lightning next week.. ☹️.

A funny old day in Welling today. Alot of driving Bout getting ready for my staycation in manston csmpsite next week. Also managed some golf at Chelsfield today. Now that was properly hot. Not as bad as yesterday as one of my mates played and said it was awful. So driving to golf solid 30-31 degrees. Looking ok for next week. I want some storms badly

Stifling humid day at home 33C, mostly cloudy. Decided to head to a beach at 8.30pm hoping for a fresher feel. Temps dropped to 21C as we drove through a heavy downpour. Lovely smell of pertichor.

24C on the seafront but still felt really humid. Back home 10.30pm to 25.1C.
