Morning, as we all said the weather won’t play ball for much of England opening of hospitality,  holiday parks etc. Absolutely unbelievable that the weather will not play ball. The rest of July is looking bog standard...and we all know what will happen In August.?️☁️

I do get bored of hearing how our summers will be hotter and drier. Apart from 76 when I was 1yo... I’ve yet to experience June-August beautiful summer weather, (the odd month like last year for instance obviously what I call summer)

Just to note I have only recorded 22hours of sun since last Saturday so poor.

Rant over

Dull and damp here with 81% humidity and a current temp of 16.4c, looks like the winds on it's way as well, and my roses were just recovering from the last bashing.!!

Not a peep of sun today definitely worst start to July in a number of years, it’s not been cool, well the average maximum is 23.4C it has been 2C below average good enough, but all this cloud is depressing and this drizzly rubbish, the lockdown weather was brilliant, wish I made more out of it. So far I’d give this summer a 5-6/10 it is early days but even next week is looking less good. If we get to mid month and we don’t see some big improvement then we would be pinning our hopes on August, which is not often the best summer month.

So just for fun..... following my post above about the variance in timing of this morning's band of patchy rain coming through. The radar image at 07.15 shows the rain coming through earlier than suggested. Arpege is closest with a forecast of 09.00. GFS and NMM way off with their later timing. But all good news for Dave's anniversary family gathering later on, with decent sunny spells once this clears. The picnic plates might be flying around in a gusty wind though!

That light band of rain passed through without delivering a drop here, although showing on the radar it must have evaporated before reaching the ground, and lets hope it's not windy for Dave later.

Hello Thunderpants.

It was mostly sunny but it certainly was a tad breezy. We were using a bench in the field to stand the cake on but attempting to light the candles with 5 & 0 on them proved an impossibility.

At one point after the cake was cut and 3 year old Arthur's plate was on the bench and a fierce gust blew plate and cake onto the ground. Apart from the mishaps we had a very enjoyable time.

At least it will be memorable for us in the years to come.

Looking at the next couple of days it would appear it will be mainly dry and that dreadful wind will die down.

We could do with some overnight rain and the garden and allotment could do with rainwater rather than from the tap, The wind and sun has made everything so dry and little precipitation recently.

Kind Regards

Dave

Perhaps that was one and the same that blew our grandson's cake along with his plate onto the ground!

Its been a decent warm day today, with some nice sunshine, and very light winds. Maybe a hint of summer coming back. Cut the grass this afternoon, was surprised how much it had grown. Good health to you all.

It was a lovely morning here on the East Coast so I popped down to Felixstowe sea front for an hour. Wonderful.

This afternoon totally different, ominous sky and now raining; unfortunately the next few days looking poor too.

Praise the Lord!

...............................At long last, it's actually raining here, not a few drops of drizzle or a spot or two in the wind, or even that 5 minute shower about a month ago................real RAIN!!

No watering the veg for me for the 1st time in a couple of months or so.

Happy days!...

Looking wet for most over the next 48 hours as the trailing fronts shown on this morning's fax chart slide across us. The cloud on the front shows up nicely on the satellite image too (as well as some towering cumulus over central Spain giving some spectacular storms there right now).

Models suggest the northern half of our Region will be the wettest with around 20mm of rain, dropping to maybe just a few mm for the South Coast. Cum precip to Fri 23.00:

Given that yesterday's/today's rain is the first real precipitation since the pre-heatwave deluge, I can't imagine it coming at a more opportune moment... It makes clearing weeds a million times easier, when one doesn't need to hack through rock-sold, bone-dry clay!

It's the right sort of rain as well, not to heavy and just enough for farmers and growers, so here's to a bumper crop, fingers crossed.

Yes, some proper rain at last. Not your fleeting shower type. Will do the soil and vegetation on my allotment wonders. Looking pretty damp for the next few days. Quite humid though at 19c today in the capital.

Here's the rainfall totals for yesterday (Weds 8th) as calculated using the Netweather Extra 1km rainfall radar.

Not much for the north of the Region, in particular Norfolk. But that should change later today and into tomorrow as the low pressure feature moves east and out into the North Sea and pulls its fronts down behind. The frontal features are shown on the Fax Chart and you'll be able to tell when the fronts clear south of your location as the winds will turn from SW'ly through N'ly and into NE'ly. The Arpege wind chart for 15.00 illustrates this:

As a result the Arpege cumulative rainfall totals for the next 36 hours suggesting most for the north of the Region:
