To the theme of the three degrees...'when will we see rain again? when will share precious moments?' - a mighty 1.5mm of the stuff so far this month, oh well at least the weeds in the flower beds aren't growing at silly rates.

I’ve had 0.4mm... April was similarly extremely dry, apart from last few days which soared 9% to 80% of norm.

Feeling warm in the sun this afternoon but still too much cloud around for my liking. I hope the upcoming warm week isn't ruined by cloud.

A bit blowy here at the moment but that sky is deep blue, the temps not bad either at 21.9c and rising.

Yes, a bit breezy here too with a 20mph gust a short while ago. But the temp has hit 21C so very pleasant out in the garden. Tomorrow and Wednesday looking great with Arpege being the most bullish of the models for Wed, forecasting temps of 26C - 27C for many in the Region. The other high res models not quite so optimistic with highs of 23C - 25C.

Thursday looking one to watch, with the possibility of some heavy, thundery showers about in the afternoon as the heat breaks down.

It's a fabulous day out to today, hot and sunny and for a change no breeze.

Bizarrely it’s not coming from east!

I must be sheltered, there's literally not a breath of wind out there at the min.

Warm here and currently 21c. Can't help but notice how funky the clouds have been today.

Quite a breezy day here to say the least with temps topping out at 23.1c in strong sunshine.

Quite a nice day, warm in the sun but quite a strong W/SW wind if you're exposed to it.

No real sign of a breakdown for the SE unless you catch some heavy showers/cloud at the end of the week, but then quickly back into the 20s for all. Next week could be even better than this week with the lighter winds.

Glorious weather.☀️

Hello Mark.

I trust you and family are well. Are you still working as I have noticed you posting on here more than usual.

The weather here has been glorious today in spite of the strong breeze. I am starting to wish it would rain at night as my allotment is bone dry and the ground (heavy clay) is hard as concrete.

Thursday might be the day when we get some storms. I have mixed feelings about that as one of my sons who lives with us (he has rented out his house to our middle son, wife and 2 year old temporarily) and I intend to walk along the canal between Chelmsford and Maldon (about 11 miles) but I don't fancy that in torrential rain.

Keep safe

Kind Regards

Dave

Hi Dave , Yeah I can think of better things to do in torrential rain although it’s sounds great in weather like today just a shame you can’t have a pint at the end in a beer garden , I have put the Sprinkler on in the garden this afternoon as it’s was showing the first signs of going that yellow colour .

Im not currently working as I am shielding as I am taking 2 different types of immunosuppressants for my ulcerative colitis and my IBD specialist nurse has advised me not to return  , having said that I have been given some work from home to do around online / Deliveroo so that keep me busy and the home schooling With the kids .

Family are all well Thanks I hope you and your family are well too , The weather looks like being great .

Kind Regards

Mark

Looks like a repeat of 2018 could be on the cards...although there has been some nippy days this month. Now we've seen somewhat of a pattern change with more of an Atlantic direction to the wind it should mostly be off a warm/very warm Tm in the coming days.

Unlike the dandelions in my shared garden. It's like Armaggeddon out there at the moment. Our contract gardeners aren't allowed to turn up so we're coping with foot-tall grass and dandelions like trifids.

I like tall grass, depending on type, it can look like a field of wheat.

Very warm T 25C fingers crossed for thunderstorms on Thursday!

A 30 minute shower for my allotment would do too.

Felt v. warm today at 26°C with that strong May sunshine. Quite summer-like. ☀️

27-28 tomorrow I suspect, as long as clouds don't ruin the day.

Glorious day. Reached 24.9C here. Only a low storm risk at the moment for Thursday according to Convective Weather, but they do say it is one to watch as the developing situation is not done and dusted yet. They reckon East Anglia in the sweet spot but that area could broaden.

1526058585_ConvectiveOutlook20May20.thumb.jpg.b7c595ced428c6b92a8e4ba4b9d30eb1.jpg

"Depending on morning elevated thunderstorm developments (and associated cloud cover), there may be scope for diurnal heating to significantly build SBCAPE across eastern England by the afternoon. Here a combination of surface-based thunderstorm development, and/or cells on the eastern edge of a pre-existing MCS becoming rooted in the boundary layer, is possible. Given the potential magnitude of CAPE, some reasonable shear and notably steep mid-level lapse rates, some severe potential may exist.

For now, a LOW has been issued to highlight the area where the best consensus exists for lightning activity - but it is certainly possible lightning may occur outside of these areas. Assuming the forecast evolution remains similar, further upgrades in threat level are likely in subsequent updates."
