BBC 6pm weather just now by Louise Lear:

“Rain ahead come Friday for SW U.K. - there has been no rain in 4 weeks so gardens starting to look a little parched”

Is she for real? The U.K. has just had one of the worst washout winters.

Rivers still flowing over normal levels here and shaded areas still bogged/soft.

Get a grip BBC!!!!

The “No rainfall” spells in this country via media is beyond cringeable!

Grass frost here too. Down to 1.8C at 06.00 this morning. I've been pottering around with indoor jobs this last couple of days - squeaky floorboards fixed!  But with a nice sunny day ahead and temperature set to get up to around 16C, I'll switch to outdoor jobs today. There's no garden waste collections here now, so hedge cutting a problem. Dare I get on the extension roof and take some tiles off to find the leak that's developed? :nea:

I agree the rain was not forcast until maybe later tonight and even that was in the form of isolated showers. The main heavy possibly thundery downpours are not forcast till tomorrow. However me myself being a thunderstorm lover, I have been keeping a close eye on the radar especially in the France area. Looks like there are some lively echoes beginning to show up in the last hour and these showers are slowly moving north. Whether they will be a decaying feature by the time they get here who knows, but worth keeping an eye on what develops as we go through this evening.

regards

Today was meant to be the warmest day of the week! But it's been overcast for most of the day here and doesn't feel warm at all. Bit of a bust for the London area I think. ☁️

Yes that is a shame really because if it was warmer and the humidity rose than I think we would have had a better chance for storms to crop up. Saying that the area of showers over France could still deliver something just see how things develop over the evening. I don't think we have got enough humidity at the moment for the big storms we want to see. However heavy showers can also bring good few claps of thunder.

For here it has been the warmest day of the week, forecast 15c but actually hit 20c bit of a surprise really with all the cloud around, hoping for some heavy showers as been bone dry here for ages

Definitely need the rain around these parts, if and when it comes. The allotment is like a dust bowl. Hopefully the met extended outlook holds up and we get some decent spells of rain towards the end of the month. 17c and Cloudy just now in the capital.

Ground all cracked, streams just a trickle, not seen significant rain for a long time-the wet winter is a distant memory now! Another sun kissed day in these parts, amazing stuff since lockdown!

Nice drop of rain this afternoon, exciting watching the storms as they cross the channel hoping for something good this evening, cool and cloudy so far though only 12c here

Oooo I just heard A lovely short elevated rumble... Nothing beats the reverberating boom of distant elevated thunder

Cool, slate grey skies and drizzle here.

Looking forward to a dry up and sunshine next week.

Beautiful.

The ground deserves to be cracked and dry after the flooded wash out winter of 2019/20

Stunning scenery this lockdown. Lush green and blue skies = perfect.

More to come next week

Evening all

Quite a bit of rain and storms coming out of France currently. Assuming it gets across the Channel, one area looks set to hit the far SE while a larger area coming off the Normandy coast may impact west London. Currently it's a SSE'ly flow.

Have the storm symbol for my location tomorrow afternoon. Could it be my first storm of 2020? Unlikely, but a girl can hope.

Hopefully that ppn over the Channel dies out by the time it reaches here.  Had enough rain here to last months after that wet winter.

Cool and drizzling outside currently. Roll on next week = Sun and dry
