Heading back to Prague today, managed to get some unpaid leave at work. Very hard to leave my Mum on her own. Have shopped a lot for her and she’s well supplied (without panic buying, of course), with friends nearby. Hope you all are ok, must be an anxious time for many. Some tips I’ve picked up recently are helping:

Boost the immune system by taking garlic capsules, cod liver oil and multi vitamins, where needed.

If you have an oil burner or aromatherapy diffuser, start diffusing eucalyptus essential oil for a couple of hours daily. It starts to kills airborne viruses within 10 minutes. Clove Bud essential oil also kills viruses but on contact with skin, so add a few drops to hand wash and hand creams for extra protection. Only a very few drops though as it’s very strong.

For an immunity ‘tea’, grate a small piece of fresh ginger, add boiling water and add lemon juice and honey, to taste. Very effective.

Virtual hugs to you all

Hugs to you too, enjoy time back with your OH and keep well. ☕ is one I recommend too! And eating a whole ginger clove is you can stomach it! (good job social isolation is happening for that one!)

12.5.c here - so nice to get up and not turn the heating on. Still grey though.

Social distancing here now but the past few days have been madness making sure various parents/step-parents/parents in law have what they need. My partner has pleaded with his boss to allow him to work from home (he has a desk job which can be 90% done on a laptop) but they've been told repeatedly all absence will be treated as annual leave, Some companies are really not doing all they can to stop the spread of this thing.

Surely they can't get away with that as the government has recommended people work from home if they can?! Some company's are so stupid!

Safe journey back. Will you be online when you get there? Be interesting to hear how things are there both virus and weather wise!

Thank you. Home now. Beautiful spring day here, sunny ☀️ and 17°C. OH happy to have company (see how long that lasts lol ).

Food shops and pharmacies are open here, public transport is running, too. Absolutely everyone is wearing face masks. It’s now mandatory to do so on all public transport and in shops, or there’s a big fine. Seems sensible ?? Otherwise, no panic buying or selfish hoarding, thankfully.

Enjoy it my friend! I got sent home yesterday to isolate for 2 weeks. My Poor good lady has been isolating now for a week already, stuck in her bedroom, she has been very poorly and as soon as she feels a bit better she goes downhill again. Thankfully i still have yet to have any symptoms. I suffer from lung/ COPD problems. Look after yourselves everyone.
much love

grey and chilly in the breeze when i went out a short while ago. Still very quiet on the streets around Westminster. At least my commute is much better with no traffic about. did the bus ride into work this morning in 75 minutes door - door, thats about 30 minutes quicker than normal.

Is there anywhere in the southeast that still has toilet paper, or do I have to use all the Daily Express weather articles by Nathan Rao instead?

Just don't forget to scrunch the newspaper up to soften it ;)

on a more serious note, why can't supermarkets stock up on a staggered basis. say 0900 then midday then 1600 for the key workers who are supporting the country to come out of work and get some basics.

its disgusting how empty the shops are where people like my partially disabled wife and my mother-in-law who has severe COPD that i cannot shop for them.

You can place an order online and you should get it by 2120, unfortunately not 9.20pm but the year 2120

That's exactly how I've been up and down like a yoyo, though I was finally getting over this yesterday, don't know if covid or cold obviously, but today more or less back to square one again.

A Chilly wind here in East Dene, very cloudy with spots of drizzle. Was hoping too see some sunshine to lift our spirits. Still I will lift my own spirit later with a tipple. Stay safe everyone, Good health to you all.

Some nice, bright spells around today - really looking forward to the sunshine of the next few days.

Thankfully, my partner has been allowed to work from home now - but like me will take unpaid leave for the whole of April. After that? Who knows. But so many people are in the same boat. Fair to say our plans of buying a house are over, at least for the foreseeable.

Looking forward to the allotment tomorrow,

Morning, back from an epic journey to bring my daughter home from uni in Bangor, Wales yesterday!
Set off at 6:15am and got back last night around 8pm so was a nice long journey. Worth it though as I wasn’t keen on her getting the usual train back through central London. Plus as they don’t want her back until September she needed to bring most of her bits back too.

The roads were quieter than normal, didn’t get stuck in the usual traffic jam on the M40 or M25 but steady but there seemed to be a lot of people like us with cars full of bedding and bags.

The weather wasn’t too bad for the drive either, around 5c and cloudy most of the way there, for the north wales though and it was glorious sunshine and 9.5c according to the car thermometer!

Drove through a couple of brief heavy showers north and then SE of London on the way back but apart from that plain sailing.

So pleased it’s going to be dry the next few days! Might actually get the garden mowed after work this next week (so hard not to wander off from working at the kitchen table and do chores when working from home!!)

Anyway, try and have a peaceful day SE’ers, I’ll check back in later

Edit: saw some snow at last yesterday - on the top of the mountains! 42 years old, bit of a crisis going on everywhere and I still got excited to see snow, even if was was a few miles away up a mountain

I hope everyone is well. I've been busy with the you-know-what thread lately, so it's nice to get back to discussing weather. And courtesy of a Scandi high pressure (where were you in the winter months!!) it's going to be a cracking day - one for wrapping up against the chilly easterly wind and getting out into the sunshine if you're able to. I'll go for a walk and check on Mr & Mrs Swan who have been busy building their nest on our local river. At least with the dry outlook they won't get flooded out as happened the other year. (You can see the debris from the recent floods in the pic).

Hope everyone is well and not too anxious with all that is going on.

Very quiet here in Prague, no panic buying whatsoever and no massive loads of idiots swarming parks, thankfully. Have been reading reports of some UK supermarkets being swamped by others during the hour set aside for the elderly and key workers. Shameful behaviour.

Has turned very chilly here, the maximum temperature today only reached 2°C and there have been several heavy snow showers! With sunshine in between.

Keep safe everyone

SNOW in the charts for the end of Smarch

We wait months in the late November to early March period and not a chance...and then we finally get winds coming in from the east and by the end of this week looks like coming in from the north and yes again in the spring, but it's all becoming a bit predictable.

The weather has been lovely this weekend best of year I’d say, shame some are being so braindead and treating it like an opportunity to socialise and gather, trying to ignore news it just gets you down.

Another beautiful sunny day.☀️

Remember to get outside into nature if you can - there's nothing wrong with it as long as you're alone and avoiding crowds. It will do wonders for your mental wellbeing in these stressful times.
