Because of warm air advection & wind turbulence ahead of the low.

Thats why a shallow system sliding SE is the best

But why doesn't the Midlands have warmer air advection I wouldn't have any objections

Can anyone explain why given the tiny size of our island the south East always gets rain from these scenarios and not snow.. Its is absolutely infuriating. Anyone expecting snow in the south East will be disappointed. Cold Rain.

If colder air was entrenched then it would be snow. It’s happened many times before but not in recent years. I reckon a fair few places may see some snow falling tomorrow, albeit briefly. Not sure much will settle.

You should get something white down your way, how high up are you? There used to be snow all the time up around the airfield when it was only sleet everywhere else.

I think it will only snow and settle on the highest ground but anywhere might see some sleet or wet snow in the heavier PPN.

Nope, cold rain and a bit of sleet.

All models show no snow south of North London and even there it will be a wintry mix.

I've had much more favourable conditions and still got rain! People just desperate to see something given the rubbish winter.

Accept it will just rain and avoid any disappointment. At least we get decent summers in the SE corner.

No need to be so pessimistic. It will definitely snow some places.

Yeah, the Alps lol.

Personally, a slush fest and 8c by lunch doesn't do it for me. If we ain't getting a cold spell with lasting snow then give me 25c and sun!

It's bitterly cold out there. Personally,  I'm not buying the snow. Might get some sleet snow, but I think people will be disappointed.

I had reasonable hopes for this winter but this is probably it ! Not exactly a 1963 experience is it ? Good luck all for next 24hrs . You never know we might see some falling at least

Its at times like these I wish the whole of the SE Region was a minimum of 250m asl and then marganilty wouldn’t come into question!!Tbh it looks like a miserable Thursday morning to me with some moderate bursts of rain for many but maybe those 200m asl May see a short lived covering. Then Friday and Saturday bring more spells of rain-Oh joy

Im currently at 3.5c, cold rain it will be, then another deluge on the way, I love the cold and snow, but this winter has been utterly abysmal, and I genuinely cannot wait for some warmer weather, I can get the garden sorted, and inject colour into the pots
