Don't know if anyone is interested but LBC is having an hour for people to call in with their storm news and tales....

1st squall has passed with a fair amount of rain but since it's gone through it's fairly calm but suspect we are in for it a little bit more in Chelmsford when the 2nd squall hits us if it doesn't fragment

A Trampoline was blown on to the Railway, between Chelsfield (near Orpington) and Sevenoaks.

First squall was busy and squally, not the worst I've seen. It's certainly been very gusty at times however all things other than the fence remain intact, albeit with the A3 closed locally due to fallen trees. Husband's plane at Larnaca made it onto the runway ready for take off.... then they were turned back due to the expected weather in London for landing. They apparently tried to find alternative airports but they are either not available or full up with other diverted flights. I find it puzzling that, with the worst of the winds and rain due to be over by 6pm, they wouldn't allow them to land at Heathrow this evening. The flight is now 'delayed' until 7am tomorrow morning.

Actually feels like the winds have abated a little just when the BBC forecast the strongest of the gusts (typical)...went down the local park an hour ago which is fairly open and didn't record a gust over 34mph with my hand held Kestrel.

Blowy. Few trees down and beach huts destroyed at Southend beach. Think we have peaked around 60mph. Notable, but a pretty routine winter storm thus far.

On radar looks like another squall has developed behind the first one, but before the main one for the far se.

What’s the eta on the south coast of the main squall?

The models did indicate that the squall would strengthen as it heads toward the south east, hopefully we see that.

Just ventured out to the nearby wind tunnel.

Very localised but sustained winds must be 50-60 mph. Dangerous/phenomenal conditions. I was sliding along the floor and had to grab onto a lamppost to avoid getting blown over!

Had some rain here, nothing too major, the winds are nothing out of the ordinary for the time of year. Temps are a amazing 13C. Thats 55F. in old money.

Winds down to 29mph average now. Eagerly awaiting the squall line now.

With the conditions being as awful as they are, I thought I’d visit my 90 year old neighbour and ask if she needed anything from the shop, Turns out she did.

So I gave her my list too.

No point in both of us going out in this terrible weather

Just had the line pass. Knocked out our sky box.

Very grateful it isn't a school day as I would of had to have gone out in it.

Brightening up, even a spot of blue sky, still a bit windy.

Blue skies peaking through the clouds but the squall is about to hit! Some 100mm/hr signals there too.

It's very windy in Thurrock, no idea of the wind strengths but QE2 (Dartford) Crossing has been closed since 6:30 am.  None of the online local newspaper websites for Thurrock Gazette or Your Thurrock reported this as I found it on the Daily Express and the Kent Live websites.

I do hope I'm reading the radar wrong, it looks like the squall flattens along the coast, so may be we'll be on it for longer than most.
