Don't normally get woken up by severe weather in the morning but the wind did a pretty good job on it. Some of the gusts I heard actually worried me of something is going to break outside in my garden.

Looks like the Isle of Wight might be cut off at some point today

Edit: (Just realised I posted this in the wrong thread but it’s nearby so quite interesting)

Possibly. There will be some squall lines where the gusts will really be exacerbated.

And also include it in the actual post, those tablets and mobiles the location doesn't show even if it's set in the profile.

Does using my iPad but not using an iPhone.

The gusts are definitely strengthening here (just to the south of Dorking town centre). The longest side of my building (first-floor maisonette) is SSW facing so getting a bit of a battering.

Made the management decision not to go to swim school today. Not normally put off by the weather, but as 1. we are still getting used to the new car 2. lots of trees on the way 3. poor bubs nearly got blown over last time 4. other road users.

Sorry chaps 'Bedfordshire' is all you are getting.

Hello everyone!

Today seems like a good day to join a weather forum. It is already very, very windy here, I'd already lost two roof slates and an old fence panel by 07.30hrs, not looking forward to the rest of the day. I'm near Wisbech, North Cambs.

Very exposed to SW winds here.

Been howling louder hour by hour, starting to roar now. The strongest winds of the winter for sure and the peak winds aren't for another 3-4 hours.

Definitely picked up again, there was a lull for about half an hour. Up here in the Surrey Hills between Holmbury and Leith Hills, facing directly into the oncoming...I suspect a battering will happen!!

The wind has certainly got a lot stronger here in Redhill.

Yep, sounds like you will be staring down the barrel of this storm a little later. I guess I am more sheltered down here at the foot of Deepdene and the Surrey Hills to the southwest.

I should be doing my freelance work but very distracted by the forum!

As someone without a garden - which house is responsible for which fence. Or is it a shared responsibility?

Don't forget after this afternoons very strong winds, the winds will still be gusting 30-50 mph for the next 48 hours.
