Rain is so heavy it's knocked our sky out, not done that in a while.

It's blowing a hooley here and i just love winter evenings like this ! I'd prefer the real cold and frosts but in it's absence, I'm happy with the strong wind and rain. And I have the low coming in tomorrow afternoon to look forward to as well

Just had 30 minute power cut here in the Surrey Hills.... very windy, even the sustained wind speed, let alone the gusts.

10yr old daughter says “this is a bit scary daddy”... reply...”this is nothing I lived through the Great Storm of ‘87”.... rolled eyeballs in response

Not sure how my children would react to a power cut ?! Guess they would have to talk to each other

Ferocious winds here - worst i've seen since moving here in September. It must be over 40mph sustained in our local wind tunnel.

Very strong winds here in South East London. I opened the window and just hear a roar.

@Hurricane Debby

I agree, if it won't snow wind is good, tomorrow night should be good too

Are we still expecting high winds tomorrow evening then?

Today was just supposed to be breezy and it's rather more than that!

We had a fairly lively couple of hours here in St Leonards on Sea this evening but nothing out of the ordinary really.

Tomorrow could be quite interesting though with winds forecast to gust to 60mph and coinciding with the spring tide at around 13.30 hours. I will be taking up my favoured spot at Rock-a-Nore in Hastings.

Thank you God that I have the privilege of a warm and dry place to lay my head tonight. It’s absolutely hammering down in a very gusty wind, I pray that all the people who have nowhere comfortable warm and dry to sleep tonight stay safe. My worries are prompted by seeing all the wobbly and precarious pop up tents I saw along Hastings sea front today...

I echo your sentiments Bluebell. To their credit Hastings Borough Council posted on Facebook earlier today that they are opening a night shelter on the night's of January 13th and 14th.

The problem is that many of those folk you see along the seafront and in the town, for one reason or another, choose to not make use of that offer or access the various other help and support systems available to them. It's a sad state of affairs.

On a lighter note the wind and rain has quitened down considerably here now, so all eyes on the forecast for today ( Tuesday ) and the spring tide.

Another cloudy damp 8c morning in South London. Heavyish rain pushing in from the SW now before the main event later with strong winds. Will be wet and windy throughout the rest of the week. Proper weather. Borefest over, for now.

Welcome back Tom!!

I am in weather limbo.

Someone in the village thought it was be a great idea to have a path through a patch of waste ground and a seat put there so it could be somewhere to sit and think. We need a safety fence so the head will re-open the school gate on our side of the village, but no a path is more important. And it's made the path we have to walk a mud fest now too.

No way on this planet would i want to sit on my own in a secluded piece of ground in this day and age. Should of put a MacDonald's there.

So does this new storm due this afternoon have a name ? It's so still outside at the moment.

I don’t believe it does. I think it should though!

"the only downside is, that it will get colder and there may well be some frost around at Night".

In these times of Global Warming and 'betty' still comes out with this or the 'at least it will be mild' which I've heard several times of late - I wish he would retire or become a bit more 'neutral'.

Hope all is well Tom and this terrible weather isn't getting you down?
