Once again a disagreement between the high res models about how much rain we'll see tomorrow. NMM saying not much at all for the Region but Arpege in disagreement with an intriguing narrow area of up to 40mm of rain right through the middle of East Anglia. I suspect that's from the warm front that moves north, stalls and lingers around briefly, before slipping back south. Charts show rainfall accumulation up to midnight tomorrow:

And a bit breezy first thing tomorrow too: 1218658671_ArpegeGusts08Janfor09Jan.thumb.png.fbb0ffc7ce00a4773155ef1884ff0bba.png

Exceptionally mild tmean today 11C, the minimum well seeing that now 9.8 might drop a bit more before midnight, does appear we will see more average weather with jet stream slipping further S. I’ll take average at this stage, in long range a pressure rise looks likely hopefully it will turn much colder with it.

Well the daffs are out, and I have a petunia in 1 of my pots, which is doing nicely, utter madness, quite windy this morning, and through the night, but, to coin a phrase from a certain someone, at least it will be mild, half of winter has almost gone, and bar a few frosts, another poor effort.

Windy. Had to fight my way through it.

Rather this than 40C.

12.9c currently, this will get all the bulbs out if they're not out already and fish are real active in the pond - looks like being a complete non-event this winter and just a relentless amount of lows developing on the latest ECMWF so no change there.

My local CO-OP was selling creme eggs on new years day, sure sign that easter is near

but easter is mid April this year so if what feels like autumn now in January could mean winter will be extended to April

After a grey start it's absolutely gorgeous here now with plenty of blue sky. I went for a walk earlier and the sun felt really warm on my back - bootiful. Looking at the satellite the dividing line between cloud and blue sky clearly showing on the image, but look what's lurking down to the SW and heading NE.

A Super mild day. 13C. Thats 55F. in old money here in East Sussex.Half way thru winter and past the cut of day for a freeze. We did not have the snow fences up this winter. The farmers knew it would be a mild one. Daffs will soon be out. Just need a bit more sunshine.

I was too hot in jumper and short puffer jacket and for January that is saying something.

Saw some lovely grey mammatus  clouds while I was out.

Hi Chris - indeed. And it's now becoming clearer why Arpege was showing a narrow line of more significant rainfall accumulation across East Anglia in yesterday's forecast. The exact location of this line will depend on where the front finally stalls in its northwards progress before moving away as the small Low Pressure slips away onto the Continent. Looks like the far east of the Region is likely to escape the worst. Latest radar:

Same here, Dami: I went down to Tesco (Lidl doesn't have cash machines!) in jeans & tee shirt, and I still came back dripping with sweat...

That grey stuff is just approaching now, from the SW.

Went down to Erith pier on the Thames today, just as it started to cloud over, lovely morning here with bright sunshine, but the wind really picked up down there once the cloud cover came in, it's only a 15 mins walk from here. Chatted to a really nice old codger angler down there with 3 or 4 fishing rods out, he was complaining that there are no fish in the river, not caught an eel he said in 8 years and that they are protected now, just whitings, quite strange.

Really heavy rain here right now, quite annoying that we can't we get these channel low type of features when its cold enough for snow.

You can see the Dartford (QE) bridge there and Erith Yacht Club in the distance.

Not sure what these are for, any ideas?

@Blessed Weather

It looks like the stall will happen through the south Midlands to northern parts of East anglia it also looks like the front will stay very active for the evening.

Craving a bit of snow now  ...or at least a bit of chilly weather.

Sure was persisting it down an hour ago.

Same here!

Band of PPN split in two now, heaviest rain Cambridgeshire/Suffolk way.
