It is a strange morning weather wise, as there is frost on top of the cars and some of the roofs but nothing on the lawns, shrubs and trees.  The temperature is 5.7 Celsius and humidity is at 75%.  The barometric pressure had been rising but it is now falling again and it is down to 1026.7.  The time is 08:23 am.  There is a fine mist forming and so as my late Dad would call it froggy weather.

Same here in Pitsea, a fine haze in the air, frost on the cars but none on the grass, I think it's down to the ground temperature being slightly too high for a frost, the bodywork on the cars and the tiled roofs absorb the cold temperatures much faster than anything else

It is a lovely sunny morning and the temperature at 10:47 has reached 6.9 Celsius.  The humidity has risen to 805 and the barometric has slightly risen to 1026.9.  There is a very light breeze.

Third beautiful river sunset of the xmas holidays, may have one more today before the gloom returns.

So no cold weather on the horizon - but as the days get longer, will the cold get stronger is the big question.

Happy 2020 for tomorrow night everyone!

morning all, i'm in work today and tomorrow. nice to be able to get loads done without interruptions. was a froggy* morning crossing Blackheath on my bus journey in.

* well how else to describe frost/fog

theres a lot of doom and gloom over the way winter 19/20 has shaped up so far but its really difficult to understand how people can blame the "weather" for being, well, the weather :unknw:

Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year to all the lovely Netweather crew

Re-emerging now after a week very deliberately spent away from anything resembling normality. Kingston Riverside was busy and gorgeous this morning topped by a low sun and clear blue skies. The recent relentless rainfall has taken its toll with the river level running very high indeed, leftover sludge deposits along the river path and sand bags across doorways to protect the local businesses; haven't seen that since the flooding five years ago. Fingers crossed for either a clear frosty high over us, or, well, you know, dare I say it... S N O W ❄️

What a lovely day, 11c blue skies and barely a breeze, very hazy though felt like an early April sunny spell

Lovely day in Locksbottom.A very chilly morning that got down to 1.1 degrees at about 6am was replaced by a clear blue sky day with max temp of 9.8 reached here. Was lovely walking the hound this Argo.Sadly next few days look like mist and fog could become prevalent and temps look like maxing at about 8 by day and 4 by night. As others have said quite a benign spell of weather which I am welcome of as this last 10-12 weeks have been truly awful here with well above rainfall in this period.

Was surprised to see quite a hard frost this morning. Walked the dog about 10.15am and the frost was still lingering in the shade and it was misty. Very atmospheric with the sun slanting through the trees.

Just popped out to restock the log basket and it's a real peasouper out there! Temp 4.2c so doubt there will be a frost.

Morning all. Chilly but frost free start to the day in SE London although it was quite foggy when i came down to sort the pooch out at 02:30 this morning

seems he just wanted some company.

looking out across the thames towards parliament and london eye from my office its still quite grey and murky out there. mind you, come midnight it will no doubt be full of smoke from the fireworks. 12,000 fireworks set to go off, 2000 of them from the london eye itself

Awful winter so far weather wise, torrential rain followed by grey skies and mild temperatures

Surely it can only get better from here ?
Wishing everyone a very happy new year

That's mature...what's to laugh at with record temps going everywhere globally for heat (other than India which has had it's coldest day in over a century).

Happy New year everyone!!!

Climate change is about extremes.. Be it heat, cold, storms drought etc.. It also doesn't help that this temperature is caused by fohen affect.. That aside its pretty astonishing to see nearly 20c that far north this time of year.. Although we have seen 14-16c with a smiliar setup

A very Happy and Healthy New Year to everyone.

I enjoyed my regular look at Europe from Sat24 just now. The Alps looking magnificent with their snow covered tops and green valleys, some towering clouds over central France and the Bay of Biscay throwing amazingly long shadows north towards the UK and which shows up on the top of the mist and low cloud. And our friends in Scotland only just getting light, an hour after the SE corner of our region. But maybe this morning they appreciated the extra hour of darkness. :oldlaugh:

Happy New Year everyone. It doesn’t look very seasonable at present so a little sunshine to brighten the day wouldn’t go amiss. I hope 2020 provides everyone with the weather they love to talk about. ☃️?☀️☔

Very little snow anywhere looking at that sat image @Blessed weather other than the Alps as you point out, looks like some as you go into Western Russia, Estonia but nowt all else over Europe...very disconcerting.

Happy New Year all!....here's to a more varied weather year and perhaps some snow.
