Just had a small firework gathering in partially clear skies in not an exactly mild air mass tonight and the temperature was 9.5c!... how times have changed!

Acre in the back garden in full colour seems to always be the same week of November when it turns regardless of conditions !

Great pic - lovely trees. I've just planted a Japaense Acer in the back garden. We have a fully grown one in the front garden - love the colour of their leaves

Went out for a quick gander before it gets dark. It has to be said the fungi are really thriving this year. I took photos of two kinds today, from the sublime to the ridiculous in terms of size!

Oh and this is a pic my mum sent me from Riseley woods in North Beds looks like a whole village of fungi! I promise this will be my last fungi related post, in my defence it’s sort of to do with weather, the damp conditions I would think..!

The cliches are out nice and early in the MOD thread this year, but before we can 'get another bite of the cherry' 'we need to get the cold in first' even though the 'charts are a thing of beauty'

It will all probably end in a mild drizzle fest like usual

Yes it’s moderately exhausting reading the mod thread already this year all the highs and lows , people alluding to them knowing something no one else does , the ubiquitous nae bad phrase , the 3 amigos all likening each other’s posts !! Yes it’s going to be a long winter one way or another ...

Indeed! I am getting stuck into the entertainment of the model thread, all the various personalities, it takes all kinds to make a world. I have already started to feel nauseous with motion sickness from the roller coaster , but just can’t keep away, always back for more like a dog returning to its own vomit..... !!

The first day of the cold season it did not reach double figures, and looking much the same over next week the forecast pretty cold for us in London many winter days warmer.

Does anyone have a radar image from the early hours of this morning? I drove from Hythe to Herne Bay at about 11am and many of the fields and some roads were flooded!

Thanks

Had a great time this afternoon planting painted rocks to promote Occupational Therapy week (check out Twitter #SmallChangeBigImpact !!)around Alexandra park in Hastings. The rocks were painted by staff and patients from services in Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, pretty colours with #OT rocks written on them. We hope people will find them google OT to find out more! Here are some pics of them. Any folk on the thread from Hastings way take a walk round Alexandra park see if you can find any!

And now this place in London should be seeing a string of sub double digit highs in the coming days. An early taste of winter! Gets you ready for the snowfest you hope to have in a couple months time.

Thanks for that Bluebell, and well done to all involved. I can't get around as much as I would like these days but Alexandra Park is practically on my doorstep and what a fantastic park it is, a real credit to the local council in these times of cutbacks.

Back on topic, a sunny start to the day gave way to frequent showers this afternoon and evening, some of which looked quite promising convection wise. All this rain is becoming a bit tiresome now though. As much as I dislike cold weather I would happily take a change to a more settled spell, even if it means the temperatures dropping.

Thank you!

It is a lovely park and there are some beautiful autumn colours on show at the moment despite recent windstorms many trees seem to have survived with their autumnal looking leaves intact. Indeed there have been some beefy showers erupting late this evening, a lot of standing water on the road driving back from Rye this evening, a passing observer would’ve had me down as a law breaking drink driver as I dodged the giant puddles!

That's the difference between living nearer the coast and as per being 8/9 miles inland like yourself, only got down to 2.5c here this morning...but a slight grass frost.
