As expected a cold night, but not enough to produce air frost.

St Harmon in Wales fell to -0.3c last night. the only place to see an air frost away from the Scottish summits.

This thread should see a bit more activity in the coming days. Tuesday and Wednesday likely to bring the first nationwide ground frosts of the season, and for a few air frosts as well.

I doubt it. We're under the front here as it moves slowly south and it's only 10.6C. I expect it to clear in about 4 hours which should leave plenty of time for temperatures here to drop in a northerly if it eases a touch which looks likely - but that front will probably only clear the Midlands around 10pm to midnight. Warmer temperatures there and less time to cool after clearing will make a frost much less likely, I think. I'd guess at no frost south of Sheffield.

Lairg, Dalmore and Kinbrace in Scotland down to -2c this morning.

Looking colder tonight with a risk that parts of Northern England will join in on the air frost action.

I'm guessing Redesdale might be the cold spot in the early hours (England wise), possible -1 degrees, followed closely by Shap.

I don't think we will see an air frost, but it will be very close.

The sunset this evening was superb, a clear blue sky and deep red - can't beat clear arctic polar air.

Shap got to -0.2C by 6am but no frost here. I thought cloud would clear around 5pm but it was more like 7pm and it was probably just too damp. We had a very heavy dew and +3.1C. Linton and Leeming showing +2.7C.

The first ground frost of the season here last night with a grass min' of -1.5c. It's 14 days earlier than the average date for the first ground frost over the last 42 years.

First air frost of the Autumn here. -0.8C was the low. Rostherne the nearest official station (but still a long way from here) got down to 2C.

Another air frost this morning with a low of -0.7C so ever so slightly milder than last night. Sometimes I've had to wait until November for the first air frost if we've had persistent mild weather but already now had two on the bounce.

Coldest amateur station in the UK this morning looks to be Inverey in Scotland with -3.8c.

My station in Keld, Yorkshire Dales looks to be the coldest in England with a min of -2.6c.

A low of 1.6c here this morning, making it the 3rd ground frost of the Autumn.
