European Snow Cover pulls it's data from IMS @ NOAA, it does however appear to be updating 1 day (approx) behind the usual NHemisphere map, so the current one today is for 06 October 2019 and shows the recent snowfall over Norway, Sweden, Finland and Western Russia very nicely :

For comparison here is the snow cover for the previous year on the exact same day 06 October, 2018

Iceland is also a marked difference and appears to have a significant reduction this year, as do the northern areas of Sweden and Finland. It will be interesting to see how the snow cover waxes and wanes during the course of this month as we head further through Autumn.

Not sure how accurate this is, but I think there is some sort of correlation with robust siberian high development coming on the back of rapid snow build into west russia and scandi during last week of October. 2012 saw a very sudden abrupt advance in the last week of October. Lets see what happens as the month wears on, in recent years early snow build in October has been followed by snow retreat in November.
