A good game between Ulster and Quins which the latter through away with a moment of madness a couple of minutes from the end. Earlier Leinster over powered Saints and Glasgow had a good win in France

Some high scoring games in the championship this weekend. The Saints looked like they were going to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory but a late try with only 13 players saved the day. Big wins for Chiefs, Saracens and Sale, with Leicester and Gloucester also winning

Clermont turned it on in the second half to beat Ulster and a cracking game between the Chiefs and Glasgow finished 31 apiece

Always a little bit fascinated by Exeter Chiefs rise to prominence in the English game..having won out in the battle to become to top club between Plymouth and the Cornish pirates in the south west.. to then go on to become one of the dominate clubs in England..wonder if the bubble will burst at some point..or have they done enough to cement their place at the top table?

Saracens are facing automatic relegation from the Premiership at the end of this season if they fail to reduce their wage bill by £2 million before the end of the month.

The club’s breach of the salary-cap regulations was so extensive that they initially agreed to the figure but it now appears pretty much impossible for them to meet their pledge.

The salary cap is set at £7 million. Saracens were fined £5.36 million and docked 35 league points after an investigation revealed they broke the salary-cap regulations in each of the previous three seasons. But Saracens will only be deemed to be compliant with the cap this season if they can reduce their wages by £2 million.

Initially the new chief executive, Ed Griffiths, was bullish that he could shop his players around on the market and cut spending accordingly. However, having been in the job for a fortnight, he has discovered that this is almost impossible.

Brilliant second half yesterday by Bristol to blow Gloucester away. Elsewhere Sale won at Sandy Park against a somewhat depleted Chiefs, still a good win. And Irish had a very good win at Northampton on Friday with wins also for Bath and Wasps

Saracens cup runneth over. At the end of a difficult week and with a much depleted side they are thrashed 41-14 by the Quins of all people. Best game I've seen Marcus Smith play

Dad and I have turned the TV off.  I accept that any team can be defeated by a side that puts in a superior performance, but that rubbish in just awful.  Did they think they had the match won just by turning up at the stadium, I wonder?

As badly as England played, the surprising thing is they could still have won the match. Not for a minute they deserved to

What a scrappy, error strewn match in the foul conditions !
England getting the win  6 -13.

Yes I suppose one could say that the latter led to the former but perhaps they could have handled the conditions a bit better. But that's really being over critical

Great dismissive post-match tv interview from Bristolian Ellis Genge, in response to usual banal journo questions.
