Awesome footage! You are in a great location for storm spotting! I had a very similar looking shower move through earlier.

I saw that town name and I looked at the lightning map and saw nothing, then I went and searched the town up - I thought it was in Wales!

Some segments of the squall/linear convection showing up on UKV look kind off tornadic. Not sure about this considering not mass amounts of shear, so probably a random coincidence.

LOL!

You should hear some of the pronunciations of it! (miythe-home- Royd)

Ten flashes out above Cornholme (N. of Todmorden) and one over Midgeley Moor

Plenty of hail/graupel as well, put a coating down on roads/paths!

Meanwhile blitzortung/lightningmaps has only detected 4 strikes

I'm using ;

MAP.BLITZORTUNG.ORG

Blitzortung.org, lightning and thunderstorms in real time

Lightning maps.org show nowt !

EDIT: Zoom in to max....they are all pretty close to one another! Looks like they were all within the wind farm up at Clivenger?

How constant is the lightning where you are?

It was my Mrs who saw the first flash but the rumble went on for an age so I'm sure there was a multiple strike?

Whether the turbines were the focus would be interesting to find out but they are the tallest things on top of the moor there?

Looked at some models and indeed they are showing a line of downpours tracking across central England during the afternoon hours as @Weather Child mentioned somewhere.

This is probably not supposed to be on here but It looks like there is an ongoing severe thunderstorm outbreak in NSW, Australia. I just watched a storm split.

There was a velocity couplet at one stage! A new strong Supercell looks to be developing in the North of the radar view.

I recently got Netweather Extra and on the UKV charts at the very bottom in the convective section there is a chart called 'TT'. I'm just wondering what this is?

Yeah, my mum and dad heard two rumbles of thunder in the house while I was having lunch in the kitchen with my headphones on.

Is there suppose to be lightning around our area today? I didn't think there was suppose to be any.

A band of organised rain showers is currently moving through your area. The band is likely to produce more lightning as it travels across England.

Has anyone been under that band of heavy rain yet? If so, what are the conditions like? Has it got some structure to it?

To be honest it doesn't look that great on radar.  I think I will be (un)perfectly placed right in the gap! I can't complain - I have had 2 amazing proper squall lines recently.

It is starting to split up now as it reaches me

It is starting to get dark to my north, however:

Total totals index. Thunderstorm potential.

It takes in to account several atmospheric parameters like 850 - 500hpa temperature lapse rates / moisture.

< 43 stable conditions

> 55 severe thunderstorms/tornadoes

etc.

I should add that it doesn't simply mean that those conditions are possible if those numbers are showing - it's not as simple as that.
