Hey everyone! I'm new here. Nice to meet you!

I've been watching the showers feeding into SW/Central Scotland. Any chance of thunder? There seems to be a few red cells but none electrifying  A few models including the Met Office's seems to be indicating a chance at 21:00 ish? Would love an Autumn storm!

Would you look at that! Fairly large cells passing and they seem to be electrifying. Hope one passes over my area, fingers crossed.

Just made a quick post in my local thread, regarding tomorrow. Nothing unusual, but widespread showers across much of England and Wales may include some hail and thunder.

Just had a Hefty, very brief shower in Bexhill; Rain was heavy-very heavy on my imaginary scale for a time, and some (weak) convective wind gusts were thrown in too. I do love showers on a cyclonic westerly. I hope to catch plenty tonight and tomorrow!

Here is my patented LL Scale!

Its measured in mm/hr, And works for virtually all types of precipitation, However it is mainly used for rainfall. Enjoy... If you want to, I suppose...

0.05-1: Extremely light

1.75-2: Very light

2.5-3: Light

3.75-4.25: <Moderate

5.75-6.25: Moderate

7-7.75: >Moderate

8-14: Heavy

20-28: Very heavy

38-60: Torrential

(Anything above this point is typically convective)

76-120: Extreme

150-250: Incredible

>300: Unprecedented.

How comes you've invented your own little scale then?

Day 1 Convective Outlook

VALID 06:00 UTC Fri 27 Sep 2019 - 05:59 UTC Sat 28 Sep 2019

ISSUED 05:48 UTC Fri 27 Sep 2019

ISSUED BY: Dan

An upper low will track slowly eastwards across NW Scotland during Friday, with a marked trough axis migrating from Ireland at 06z Friday to Denmark by 06z Saturday. This feature will aid convective development through the day, as a series of occlusions and troughs move eastwards across the Irish Sea / England / Wales. The overall setup is somewhat complicated by a mixture of both convective and dynamic rainfall.

Scattered showers will already be affecting parts of Ireland and the Irish Sea first thing on Friday morning, and are expected to develop fairly widely, organised into distinct bands at times. With cool air aloft atop warm seas and diurnal heating inland, this will yield 300-600 J/kg CAPE. Shear will tend to increase from the west during the afternoon hours, which combined will help organise convection at times. Sporadic lightning, small hail and gusty winds will be possible from the most intense cells. Given relatively low cloud bases and reasonable LLS, an isolated tornado is also possible.

Cute little Rainbow I encountered underneath a dissipating shower:

1: To make me feel somewhat more Professional and organised...

2: So I can say ‘Look! I made this thing!’

In all seriousness, I made it so I can reference it in my Weather journal passages (For example, A thunderstorm event with heavy rain; I could also quote the NW radar colour scheme), as well as for observational purposes.

It just momentarily chucked it down!! I’d say it was Very Heavy on my scale, just  about hitting torrential on my scale for a very brief moment!

Heavy/torrential downpours where I am. There was also a huge explosion of wind that nearly blew a lady onto the floor outside my window, almost tornadic in nature. I thought the trees were going to blow into my window.

Just checked the radar and there was a cell approaching me.
