We are in Kingsbridge, I was woken about 1.30 by a really booming crack of thunder!

Then there was another booming strike before a couple more distant ones.

Not bad going, can't remember the last night time storm down here so I'll happily take that (despite feeling knackered now!)

Holy cow. It's been raining here for about 20 minutes now and my front yard is starting to flood! And the rain hasn't even got worse yet!!

Haven't actually done too bad here so far this morning for thunder.

Had another moderate to heavy shower around 6:00AM and some overhead flashes of intra-cloud lightning and soft rumbles of thunder.

Just had a very intense burst of rain there, vaguely convective too.

Looks like there is a squall line developing off the coast of NW France to SW England.

Had some blue skies for around 20 minutes here, got quite warm. Going to head out & see what this next lot brings. Very muggy down here.

Yup. Sat on the hill, never seen Portsmouth & the IOW disappear so quickly with the rain. But not one spark

What’s the sky looking like? Or is it just a rainy mist?

Lol and we’re supposed to be in a slight area - specific for London and the CS, can’t make this up

Hopefully things will develop soon cos at the moment it’s pretty poor. Usually do ok with squalls here

Rainy mist. Watching the tail end of the heavy stuff. Clear skies to the west now

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
