As it's moving away there is the strangest sound I've ever known from a storm. Rubles are so constant it sounds like wind blowing nearby. There's a slight breeze but it's just incessant rumbles all merging into one.

Been going on for five or ten mins now with no sign of abating although it is reducing in volume as it moves away.

I'm going for a punt and suggest that the cell moving across the Durham area now is showing signs of supercell or multicellular characteristics. It's moving to the right slightly and the shape etc just looks right to me although I'm not a pro so just for fun my guess.  Can hear thunder from it even in Tyne and Wear now

It's just left here. I'm off to follow it.

Lovely structure to that thunderstorm heading north, saw it develop to my east and unfortunately didn’t get anything :(

The cell passing me now looks severe and it showing obvious signs of rotation-may be worth keeping an eye on

Get some footage of you can mate it looks a beast on the radar. I can hear the thing from here in Washington. On its current course it will be a direct hit if it doesn't disintegrate.

Embrace this Stephanie! That was insane. Marble to grape sized hail and even a little bit of hail fog seen!! Stopped in spalding now and hearing loud booms from the East and that lot to the south. Definite rotation in that storm now over the wash, as there was a sharp turn in the wind from S to NW! 20.5c back up to 27c again. More to come!

Some gorgeous cloudscapes with this lot today!

Not even a distant flash to see even though I'm now nearly back in Neots and can see huge clouds from the train. Deprived of even that little pleasure!! Enjoy all those that get their fix tonight!

I hope the stuff coming into Wales right now gives us over here in the west something nice.  It's so, SO muggy right now, the small bit of rain that came over about 3/4ish o'clock just seemed to make things worse.  Stepped outside thinking it would be a nice little cooldown, to find I had apparently walked into a sauna in which someone had just tipped a bucket of water over the hot coals ><  It's more like drowning in kettle steam than breathing air outside atm

The cell forming over us is showing explosive growth to my west (sleaford) on the radar incredible.

have to say it’s incredibly muggy sticky with just a slight breeze I’m waiting for the updraught to start.

I thought there was too-even though it skirted around my area, there was definite rotation and the base was lowering (could just about make it out from my viewpoint) and it was swirling all over the place directly above me, and on top of that the lightning seemed to be getting more frequent.  There was very little rain though, but there was a marked increase in wind speed and a sudden jump in temperature.
