Just had a few spots of rain however unless anything breaks out slightly further to the west it's not good for those in western Sheffield.

Just north of Harlow - the storm is rumbling off away from me now. Not much visible lightning but nice big rumbles.

Wont be heading and further north - not worth it. Hoping for something else here but I fear that the cold front is past now and not enough trigger for anything else

Fairly sure this isn't the cold front? I think today's storms have initiated from a trough ahead of the front (which is draped over Ireland at the moment).

Think that's true for all of Sheffield tbh. The only area of interest is due south and the southern edge is developing well enough but has an easterly movement to it so perhaps parts of western Lincs a better shout on that one.

It was on the morning forecast. Looking at the fax suggests it's trough.

Absolutely right, cold front way out west,it's a trough down the spine of the country.

a developing low has formed down in the east midlands/SE

run the animation on pressure.

I stand corrected on the front - doesn’t look like it on radar now I look. Thanks for the details.

wondering if those cells in France might work their way over the channel?

Some decent cells closing in across the north east now. Please build intensify and then show me a good storm man could be the last decent chance of the summer!

Yes PIT, there's your trough. Cold Front still off to the S.W.

Looking good here now. Looks like they're slow moving. Wonder if the main activity will be late evening or tonight?

I'm currently sat in my garden in Spalding, very booming thunder I would say from my east no rain here as yet. Fingers crossed for when it gets dark that we have a nice light display

Anyways dead duck for us everything passing to the east of us as the sun comes back out. Suspected we had out allocation for the year so it seems.

The precipitation that's currently in the SW of the country, is that of any interest for us tonight or will it just be bog standard rain?

I think there is supposed to be more action tonight, forecast suggested Thunderstorms possible in South West and Central England the last forecast I saw.

Looks to be some nasty storms by the echoes to the north of England.

I'm tracking this on the radar. Might even give chase if it turns out to be something special.
