Keep your fingers crossed, there are bands moving through and still time for some developments to the eastern side of London I think

A few heavy downpours and the odd rumble of thunder in south London, but not really a proper storm overhead, most activity staying south of London. Some interesting cloudscapes nonetheless

Sat up the hill now, watched the band of rain hit the IOW - one strike but too far for photography. Sun is now out and it’s quite toasty.

So, a cell has suddenly developed over the Surrey area, it kind of split into two if you look at the radar shot. Huge pressure drop (went from around 20° to 14°) in a matter of minutes and torrential rain (some flooding).

I'm currently seeing interesting cloud/scud formations in the distance, its hard to keep track though due to obstructions. No thunder or lightning though.

Hehe ‘dirty rain’, I like it

Looked like a nice little storm about halfway between our locations - but the OH just came back from an interview so I couldn’t head out again unfortunately.

Could hear the rumbles from Milford, and today seems to have been quite conducive to CGs so it would have been quite a photogenic storm, too.

Can still see the edge of the showers that passed here a few hours ago.

That system was huge indeed. Surprised it didn’t have more activity along the squall but I guess storms earlier on had reduced the potential. Got this pic of the mammatus (this was quite a while after the rain)

going to be an interesting evening/night here as showers build out in the Irish Sea thanks to ocean effect convection under an upper cold pool.

There is a marked veering of the surface/850 mb winds around 2 am which is suggestive of a trough, so that may be the focus of any deep convection.

Looks even better now and hardly looks to have moved although the radar suggests there isn’t anything falling from it anymore.
