Hot for the first part of the night. Scattered thunderstorms moved up from the south through the early hours. Temperature dropping to a more comfortable feel. Dawning partly cloudy. A few brighter spells though mostly cloudy by observation.

A mainly clear night, sunny so far this morning, already feeling hot. Turning very hot by afternoon, with the temperature hitting 34.0c a local record going back to 1992.

Despite plenty of cloud bringing the odd spot of rain the few sunny spells have made for a warm morning

Thunderstorms during the 2nd half of the afternoon have really freshened things up after 33c yesterday afternoon it's currently 21.1c and falling

Cloud prevented another hot day here but it was rather humid throughout and when the sun did come out albeit briefly it felt quite very warm. One or two very light showers during the day and a few stormy looking skies as remnants of old storms passed close or over us. Still humid even now.

It was the warmest night on record here with an overnight min of 21.8C. The temperature actually peaked at an astonishing 26.4C around 3am and was accompanied by strong winds due to a heat burst. The morning was warm and mostly cloudy with occasional sunny spells. The afternoon saw a few moderate thundery showers before turning dry in the evening. The 24 hour minimum temperature was a whole 1C above the previous July and annual record, set last year.

I saw mention of this rare heat burst on the local news. Temps jumped suddenly 10 degrees to reach 32° C !

  I didn't know if it affected the north bank (E. Yorks),  seems so reef.

It hit us around 3am and sent the temp above 26C. Not quite as extreme as Donna Nook but remarkable nonetheless.

Cloudy and dry all day with fleeting sunny intervals in the afternoon. Plenty of rain on the radar around southern England but we've avoided it until the last few minutes. Maximum 25.6, minimum 18.7. Wind light SW.

Edit: I saw that temperature at Donna Nook yesterday evening and thought at the time that it must be erroneous. Now I understand what happened. Here to the west of London the temperature kept falling as one would expect, but the university weather station graphs show a pronounced dip in humidity around that time. Yesterday was exceptional in so many ways.
