This is a list of the hourly readings from Aug 10 2003. Times are in UTC so add an hour to get the BST time. We are a couple of degrees ahead of 2003 (31.6C at 0850Z compared to 29.6C in 2003)!

Yesterday.

A very warm and humid night. A thunderstorm crossed the area through the early hours with much lightening and crashes of thunder. The rain was torrential for a short time accompanied by a rather gusty wind. The day dawned party cloudy, warm and humid, damp under foot. Sunny spells developing for a short time before a sheet of stratocumulus arrived around 07:15 GMT. At observation, overcast, damp underfoot, warm and very humid. Again the cloud broke up quickly after the observation, turning hot in sunny spells.

32c before 11am....the record is definitely on, just all eyes on the south now with the  cloud and storms which have already hit the south coast. If somewhere in the SE corner can miss everything then there is a chance. Looks as if a big lump of cloud is heading right towards the London area in a couple of hours which could really be a problem.

33.1c at Heathrow at 11am, which compared to 2003 is actually slightly behind. But not by much

I think it is slightly ahead, the link previously posted is UTC (1 hour behind BST) so at 10.50am in 2003 it was 31.5, so we are over a degree ahead as it stands!

About to take over yesterdays high and its not even midday. 5 hours of warming left, providing the thunderstorms coming up from France don't interfere too much. Also another 6.1c onto that and it'll hit my very ambitious 40.1c guess at Kew gardens

If the pesky thunderstorms steer clear, somewhere could just squeeze out a 40oC

28.2°C, 52% humidity.

Should reach about 30-31 today if the clouds don't interfere.

Just hit 31.3C making it a whole 1C higher than our 40 year July record (set in 2018). Its now comfortably the warmest day since 3rd August 1990.

That could be our lot though as a keen onshore breeze has now kicked in.

A line between Cambridge and Lincoln could be a good call for the highest temp now. 35c currently in Cambridge. Some Cloud looks like drifting towards the London area, could scupper things here.. N/NE of here looking a very good shout

It has hit 29.5°C here, equalling my highest temperature on record, and should surpass 30°C in the next hour. Clouds are forming now though, so that could put a lid on things shortly.

Hello fellow Roystonian. I currently have 36.8C. @Kirkcaldy Weather nominated us as the hotspot. I hate to disappoint that there is now no recognised station here, but I will do my best as a substitute. That might turn out to be our max. Generally, I would expect Cambridge to be slightly warmer than us as it is lower.

Hi Weatherboy , yes extremely hot . Thank god it’s cooling off . Yes think your right , Cambridge could even record the top temp of the day ? Not long to wait now .
