Only gone up by 0.1c from yesterday with many southern and south eastern areas in the high 20's and low 30's?...seems strange.

Not really getting towards the end of the month so it needs larger highs and lows to make a massive change unlike at the beginning of the month.

EWP had reached 82 mm after 27 days and added perhaps 2 mm from rain in southwest England on 28th, dry elsewhere. GFS estimates grid average of 5 mm more, mostly in progress on Saturday 31st as month ends. That gives us an estimate of 89 mm.

Well that's what I thought we had...a majority of southern and south eastern areas on Tuesday must have been 8-10c above the daily maximum temperature (which is near 21c/70f) at the back end of August and for the CET to go up just by 0.1c, maybe offset somewhat by cooler conditions to the north west maybe?

My 17.5 may be a tad of an overshoot, but I'd be happy to be within 0.5 as it's been a hard month to read!

my 17.3 could be a bullseye but 82mm of rain just out of the inner circle.

my 60odd  mm isn't even on the dartboard although my 17.2 has a sniff off a chance.

There could be seven us in contention for the top spot then, I’m guessing who ever submitted their guess first will be the overall winner though

How has it dropped after yesterday? Very surprising. Perhaps 17.0C+ after adjustments isn't 100% nailed on after all...

Yes - 100% a huge downward correction will deprive me again, it always does, i have never won one in my life - i even factor in a 0.5 downward correction in now when issuing my forecast.

As I mentioned the other day how did the CET only go up by 0.1c on Tuesday with that heat and fairly warm night (8-10c above normal by day), largely effecting the south and east...some eyebrow raising of the ongoing CET from day to day me thinks!

Tuesday had a front across the Midlands and Yorkshire (high teens maxima) and the CET zone stretches to Manchester which even behind the front was cooler than average most likely.

Correction is normally 0.2-0.4C so my 16.9C is the outer bound.

All depends if the warmth hangs on right till end of month, latest GFS ends it on the 29th FWIW.

Stick on 17.5.

This from 11 days ago and it didn't quite stick on 17.5, now its correction time...... to please or irritate.
