How wrong could the forecast have been. Fantastic autumns days, clear sky, gentle  breeze. So far removed from what was expected.  That coupled with the outlook makes this October one of the best for years.

Another 18.0mm of rain so far today meaning we've now had 154mm since 22nd September. Surprisingly the ground has taken it well due to the long dry period before, but the rivers and streams are rising now so it could do to stop!

167.2mm since the 22nd September, here.

One of the wettest starts to Autumn for many years. Sunshine levels have been way lower than average over that period, too. Grotty, sums it up, so far.

Was half expecting it to be a washout day today, but it’s been quite the opposite in fact. Sunny intervals with a moderate breeze.

Nothing is really looking wet despite the rain we’ve had overnight.

Finally woken from my summer slumbers ..... an early start to this year’s Winter watch

is there a portent in that! Or have I been fooled by the media’s optimistic rumblings of cooling weather to come lol

Here’s to a great season of weather watching.... whatever happens

The next round of rain is arriving into Ireland as we speak this will spread east overnight and into tomorrow it's not likely to be as widespread as today's with it breaking up quicker

Well, as others have said it’s currently  shaping up to be a very wet autumn, but it hasn’t been continuous rain here (thank goodness!).

But one thing I did notice at the start of this month was that the gentle mists of August and September have started to give way to proper fogs, and perpetual dampness.
A gentle reminder that autumn is a season of change... From summer to winter.

Maybe someone will invent waterproof clothing one day.

Try working in it, you end up sweating your cods off.  Funnily enough  wind driven rain doesn't  do mortar joints a lot of good either.
