Looking at the current storm in the channel there is not much precip attached to it at the moment. Could be a good thing going forward and not to pay to much attention to the precip charts.

Indeed AWD. I'm sure it wasn't the flag that gave it away, though.

Actually it was the Village Inn Hotel, I didn't notice the flag.

On topic, and I think we are in a rather decent position for once as things stand.  If Bristol does end up missing out, I don't think we would have to travel very far at all to see something.

I’m hoping we get something! I can’t be precise, given the circumstances, but I would say there is at least a chance of a nasty cell later tonight, perhaps spawned from the main cluster/MCS outflow boundary! Fingers crossed!

To answer your question , I would think it's highly unlikely but you could never rule it out

I HOPE SO! I mean we are in the risk zone for isolated storms, if the storm is strong enough it could use energy from the main MCS causing it to be powerfull for us!, fingers crossed indeed!

Image looking approx NE from Babbacombe, Torquay. Not much in terms of activity. The sun is back out and temp has increased to approx 25c and calm.

whatever was in the channel seems to have died, in terms of lightning strikes.. maybe it comes back to life. Not really seeing a lot happening, but maybe stuff will kick off during the evening

This is the life, sat at the Cumberland hotel by the pool on Bournemouth’s east cliff. Cold beer and unrestricted view out over the Channel #winning!

Hey all - just about to take off from Bergamo Italy, into Bristol at 8.15pm. I stopped my trip 2 days early so I didn't miss a thundery UK heatwave, but hate flying at the best of times so please all pray that Bristol stays clear until after 8.15 PM- if it doesn't, startup a RIP about Sam page (purple swimming award, good to animals, moderately fast cyclist).

Good luck all!

Add to that “had an awesome view of that MCS over the UK on July 23rd 2019”

Have a safe journey

Thanks for the camera, Ancient Solar!

I'm assuming nothing will happen around my area (as usual). 31C in Reigate was our tops in my professional weather station. (Yes, OK, it's clagged on a post outside the garage door...    )  Must get some new batteries, too...
