Storms and Convective Discussion - 25th June 2019 onwards

Recommended Posts

Good evening everyone

Looks like it's been very lively on here today!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to keep up to date with today's offerings, could someone give me any idea if the far south has a chance for the rest of the evening, or is the game up?

As I'm currently sat at Barton on sea cliff top, and I don't know wether I'm wasting my time

Cheers

Oh my god it's heading right for me! This looks nuts!

The sky is black and it should hit just as the sun is going down.

Can see flashing in the distance to my south, looks like it's going to be increadible. Can't hear any rumbles yet though.

Met Office predictive radar breaks these out later on. Incidentally the same model was bang on the money 3 hours before Tuesday's storms down here.

I certainly won’t be staying up past my normal bed time tonight - evidence strongly suggests the ongoing cluster of storms is the key zone of activity - the hope or expectation more will fire to the west in my view is folly given the models. I’m sat under perpetual anvil and mamma crud.

That’s not to say it’s not extremely warm still - 28C apparently (outside).

You still at Firle about to head down there now to catch the next batch of stuff.

I’m at Langley Point. Keeping an eye on the radar tho as looks like stuff moving up back to the west Worthing way

If it turns electric, I’ll start to get excited - as it is, I’m not getting my hopes up. If anything I genuinely believe it’s game, set and match west or south west of the current stormage. I have not seen a single model break out storms after this initial batch. Notwithstanding that it’s still incredibly warm!

It just did. Stand by.

Majority of the fun going north, keeping to  the East of London up into eastern East Anglia. Doesn't look like much is going to happen more centrally, as yet.

Unfortunately nothing much will happen tonight for the central regions, we might get a sharp shower early hours but they will be very hit or miss and I feel some of the development happening down in the south/south west will peter out by the time it gets to the central parts. Here's hoping I'm wrong.

Some folk are too despondent. A look at the European satellite shows the storms getting bigger over France, as they engage the front later the precipitation expands.

A tad concerned we might be too far west here but I don’t think it will be a total dud.

Noticed those showers cropping up - might get lucky as they drift by!

The sky here’s been clear all evening until now. Looks like this to the east.

Even though its early beginning to think most of the activity tonight is that storm in the far East.

I think the UKV/Met Office radar app can be completely and utterly ignored tonight. There's a lot of rain across EA/SE yet the UKV forecast for the same time shows absolutely nothing

Complete and utter bust today..

I wouldn't call it that, there was an unconfirmed supercell, A MCS in the SE!

I have a great view here from the cliff top, and I can see the tops of the cells that are south of Weymouth, so I'll be keeping a close eye on them.

Fingers crossed
