Hey Quicksilver, you're in Hull right? What do you make of this... https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/when-thunderstorms-hit-hull-weather-3137009

Owain on Look North has just advised thunderstorms moving up throughout the night covering plenty of Yorkshire.

Lol, had to laugh at this quote:

"According to the Met Office, storms are rumbling north of East Yorkshire, near the Scottish border, which are travelling south"

Not sure how they came to that conclusion with southerly winds! Also:

"The Weather Channel says thunderstorms are likely to arrive at 9pm and continue until midnight"

Too many newspapers resort to clickbait and it sadly gives weather forecasting a bad name. We may get something tomorrow morning with the colder air pushing east but I doubt it'll be much to write home about.

I'm guessing it's a bit late to make the 2.5hr drive to Norfolk at this point?

I live about 6 miles north and haven't heard anything. Hopefully spot a flicker as it drifts by to my east.

You holding out for the south coast?  I'm sat somewhere near the M25 in kent, no idea what to do.  That Norwich storm was always heading the wrong way for me

I'm in Barton on sea, the wind has picked up in the last 5 minutes.

If anything is going to happen in this neck of the woods, it will be soon, and if not, I've only been sat here for 2 hours for nothing

I can second this, other than about 30 seconds of warm drizzle about 30 mins or so ago, nothing wet has touched the ground saw Virga passing by a couple times, but other than that, nothing

Can I just ask did you catch the singular lightning flash with a long delay before the rumble of thunder just before the rain started? I was in the back garden and it caught me by suprise!

I was wondering this. It could well be a part of the cold front - but I’m not certain enough of this yet.

If it helps I’ve tried to make a prediction of the position, shape and track of said front - this time using EMF’s seminal debut 90’s album as a template to hopefully better illustrate the situation:

Storm near Le Havre shifting NNE. I’m off to bed. Good luck all - let’s hope to be woken up by some surprise storms...very unlikely though it seems.

Edit - still 27C! Sod that!

Damm, no  I'm in the room facing the road (and hillside) with the blinds closed and my music on, so missed it

Cap looks like it's not going to shift.....look how powerfully its shoving the stormy weather out to sea on the SE coast. Even the flurry of activity off the IOW hasn't eroded it. Maybe the cold front will bring some activity ?‍♀️

Looks like that is it for Reigate. I had hoped the front would spark up a few more storms but everything coming across the Channel is losing its marbles and fading out. Looks like some kind of cap or ridge of high pressure folding into the area? Dunno.

Guessing it'll get entrained in the cold front and become part of the showery rain band expected in southern counties tomorrow morning

Total dedication! I tip my hat to you.

I just don't get the chance to chase further afield unfortunately, one day though.

This feels like the last chance for a while

Hopefully I'll have some luck when I'm on holiday in France.

Good luck and good night all, I don't think it's gonna happen tonight.
