I'm afraid there were no storms or even rain in Stoke today, at least not in my part!

I can second this, other than about 30 seconds of warm drizzle about 30 mins or so ago, nothing wet has touched the ground saw Virga passing by a couple times, but other than that, nothing

Was anyone chasing that supercell up north earlier? Really interested to see what structure that thing had - wouldn't be surprised if there was a funnel or brief tornado.

Sorry, my post was referring to July 20th 2016, in response to a post regarding storms on that day.

Well hello everyone! Been quiet, because I’ve decided to go all the way to Cromer and mundesley to see this huge MCS! I can honestly say I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s nuts, constant lightning every second. Awaiting the downburst!

Not optimistic Biggin

Models keep instability around for the next few hours but there’s just no sign of anything with any interest developing.

If something develops our way I’d be surprised - put it this way I’m not staying up waiting.

Edit - just as I write that it seems as if a new cell is forming near Le Harvre and drifting NW...will keep and eye out for the next 45 mins or so then off to bed if nothing occurring

Edited my post a minute later as there MAY be a new cell forming near Le Harvre - keeping an eye on it to see if it may amount to something

Definitely moving into the North Sea unfortunately... think tonight is a write off for our part of the world unless we suddenly see some backbuilding along the western side of the storms.

Though that appears unlikely and we may only get steady rain at best...

Hey Quicksilver, you're in Hull right? What do you make of this... https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/hull-east-yorkshire-news/when-thunderstorms-hit-hull-weather-3137009

Owain on Look North has just advised thunderstorms moving up throughout the night covering plenty of Yorkshire.

Just got back from Felixstowe, was watching the storm from the pier. Some pretty decent lightning but it must have been between 5 and 15 miles out to sea. Caught some decent cg strikes but all in all I've seen much better. 6/10

managed to squeeze a flash out of a shower that passed to my west 30 mins ago....a few more weakly electrified showers pushing up from the south coast heading due north for Bath and then onto the west midlands

That must be the longest display of lightning I've been able to enjoy (most of the time!)  initially, it was almost constant - around 70% CC or IC strikes but some intense (possibly +ve) CG strikes.  Heavy rain and gusty winds added to it.  It's still flashing around out there are I type, but, though there are more cells appearing in Normandy, I think that's nearly it for the first tranche.
