I swear when you’re waiting to hear thunder absolutely everything sounds like it...

Yes harsh,hard to believe.

Had a feeling though that once cooler air makes progress eastern England will benefit.

Once we missed out on nw storms earlier I was sceptical

Give it a chance, it only seems to be gear up now, steady as she goes. Has nobody noticed that Scotland is already benefiting from the cold front?

Any of you clever peeps that follow the forecast - do you reckon it's likely that Sunderland will be hit with a a storm tonight ? Only asking as I have my youngest daughter and her friends wishing to camp out in the back garden this evening, I don't  want to be the party- pooper - so to speak

Game over for majority of SE/CS England other than Kent/Essex northwards

Why do you think that? Night time is when more is likely to happen

I don't think that is from the cold front.

Nothing much yet, but could be later based on radar.

Keeping an eye on the one by Worcester though, if it keeps going it 'should' (hopefully) come right over me

In cableguy’s defence, most models have the storms initiating and moving N/NW around now. If it’s to my east then I’m not optimistic, unless another trigger can be found. PJB has activity across S/SE until 07z so there may be something I’m missing (hopefully)

I think that as that cold front gets closer more could begin to form further west

The MCS shift to the East is Marked. We have hours yet so lets not give up hope. Those in the far SE missed out on Tuesday so pleased they have seen some action. Its looking a dead loss for me, so far West but there are showers around so the moisture is there..

Here comes the rain but still no electrical activity and I’m honestly starting to wonder if there will be now

So my town had a orange warning today with unprecedented rainfall, intense lightning and 90mph gusts... Yet we haven't even had a drop of drizzle. What the hell, how can every forecast get this so wrong again. Last week was the same, be prepared for extreme storms. And again nothing. And I'm in Cheshire by the way.

There is another bite of the apple. Today had several opportunities for convective initiation - the elevated stuff will come, but it won’t be until I’ve had my dinner and a pint

Look how quickly that small cell popped up east of Brighton. This isn't one of those situation where a storm moves through and that's it. The juicy air is constantly being replaced behind.
