Wonderful structure on this storm in the far North

If I was looking for something tornadic, it would be that sort of thing.. see the fan tail? Like a plume of feathers parted.

Just heard some rumbles, looked around the house west and there's CBs going up all over the place.

Why? It's so far away and is barely active compared to what's heading into the south east

I thought I was gonna be too far East - but wanted the storms to block the sun and give me low light conditions. Turns out I’m right on the western edge of what’s moving up - this could well be a sweet-spot for observation, as any rain will be east of here...

I HOPE!

You can definitely see the imaginary line from the northern storm all the way down into middle of France. Anything west of that is a bust I think.

I'd like to try to answer, because I'm an enthusiast.. but don't want to come across with a certainty as the tools to examine it aren't at my disposal. But very severe cells .. supercell that are potentially tornadic in nature have less lighting, but more extreme strikes, they cycle up and down, stay very compact ... they can 'float' over your head and yet a mile away drop a severe hail core, blow the cobwebs away with very strong winds and drop a funnel. I have my eye on it.

I was literally just doing that with my eyes, drawing the line and thinking that I am only just on the east of that line hence just seeing a storm go from nothing to something and then moving off in a matter of minutes lol.

A real shame if so, all that energy out there and no payoff for most of the country! Still hoping we'll get a surprise but it seems not

Sky is now clouding over. Considerable upscale cloud growth to South and especially West where it looks ominous.

Western edge of this more general area of rain has pepped up a bit! Looks like we could be in luck in the Scottish capital after all!

The Cell over East London just passed over me. Lots of CC lightning and Thunder is minimal however rain is very intense for a minute or two. No Hail. Looking foward to the main event if it does arrive lol

I reckon that could break off and basically follow the line of the M74 towards Glasgow. It seems to be trying anyway.

Some lightning strikes being picked up just west of Consett in Co Durham, and the cell to the west of Newcastle is agnonisinly close-I'll be gutted if nothing comes of it.  Still very dark outside
