Do you think our area is in for chance buddy

I think we are in for a decent shout. Keep an eye on that monster approaching Eastbourne. If it doesn’t hit us directly, it should give some amazing shows to the near East if it keeps on growing!

Hi Supacell - just wondering re this as the forecasts say this evening for NE / Northern England as the main area of interest?

That is correct. The first area of interest will be N/NE England into Scotland.

Oh heavens - something coming Reigate way! And in the Channel clouds hitting 8 miles up? Amazing!

Mesoscale Discussion
Valid: Thu 25 Jul 2019 16:00 to Thu 25 Jul 2019 20:00 UTC
Issued: Thu 25 Jul 2019 16:38
Forecaster: GROENEMEIJER

Across the Lake District, a complex of thunderstorms has developed within an environment of around 1500 J/kg MLCAPE and strong, around 20 m/s, 0-3 km wind shear, supportive of supercells. Thus, large hail will be a distinct threat. It is likely that the storms will produce strong outflow, given the deep boundary layer in place. In combination with the strong lower tropospheric shear, the risk of a forward propagating bow echo exists, which should be capable of producing a swath of damaging wind gusts.

Wow, look at the size and rotation of the cell tracking up the West Coast. This storm looks like the real deal, most possibly a supercell by its shape on the radar.

Looks like tonight is gonna be another cracker!

The strobe lightning on Tuesday Night was wild. The atmosphere seems particularly unstable, so I'm looking forward to some quite spectacular lightning later on this evening!

Well. I have decided to stay put. I do think it’s been the right decision, although being in the wake of that northern monster would’ve been terrific, I’d have been gulping on then checking the radar and seeing a mother and daughter MCS lining up in France ready to attack us.

I will certainly be up for local chasing if need be, to maximise viewing and experiencing what could be some epic storms ahead in the next 12 hours.

Good luck to all, and let the fun and games begin!!

The NW coastal storm has split and the right hand cell that's developed really looks like a right turner - possible supercellular?  Not experienced enough to call it and I think we'll have to see how it develops over the next couple of radar runs but looks interesting all the same.

Sitting in the oven of our garden and had a nice pile of forked lightning right overhead, and and a good bang!  We have a storm over Reigate.  a LOT of convection in it, too.

Thatll be verified via satellite before that's issued too. Some will be weather reports from satcom enabled aircraft.

Lift off across the south!

Nope, you gotta be careful with that, false readings, Blitz has a more realistic graphic of lightning strikes.

Far south-east corner, and if the rest in the channel dies, the only option left, is home-grown. The CAP is very strong

Its currently a cluster of strong cells, some that are possibly showing supercellular characteristics

How do you explain radar, then?

I expect storms across Lincolnshire later this evening into the night, including Lincoln itself. I may be heading into Lincolnshire myself.

I'm currently in the south of Lincolnshire town called Spalding. Debating whether I need to pop back to work and water plants again outside (I work on plant nursery) or we going get some rain in next hour or 2
