No thunder, but lovely orange flashes lighting up the clouds. So happy to finally see something this year!

Starting to see distant strikes from here now to the west and those to the south lighting up the clouds

Much quieter here now. Can still see frequent lightning to the NE though.

Don't think so

Definitely more action on the eastern flank though. parts of London may yet get lucky. Still too far west for me.

Why London, why? I want to go west and see this with my own eyes but it’s too late  I haven’t seen anything at all

Well its past the point of no return now, if you are still awake now you might as well stay awake!

Not often you get to see a radar like that in the UK

Watching a few lightning flashes looking out the SW window towards the Shropshire Hills way from here in the Peaks.

Storm moved through very fast in Guildford. Heavy rain and insane lightning for the UK.

It would be interesting to hear about hail/tornado reports

Now having some big flashes to my south, still very windy here and the sky has clouded over, fingers crossed it moves across the Aylesbury/Tring Area

Now getting that amazing strobe effect others have talked about as the storm approaches... been a very long time since we saw something like this in shrewsbury. Very little thunder though.... it’s eerie

Incredible lightshow in BS34. Thunder is a constant dull roar but just constant lightning. Not much rain passing through but a highly electrical storm.

Reminds me of a video posted by American Storm chaser Pecos Hank where he had a constant lightning show on one storm.

First of two ‘arms’ went through. Peak rain rates over 100 mm/hr but only lasted about 5 mins - they’re scooting along as expected.

Lighting is more ‘veiled’ than during the top-tier 2014 events and thunder much quieter.

Some powerful wind gusts though!

In the end, five bouts of torrential rain, most intense one reaching nearly 150 mm/hr, with the final one being the most noisy thunder-wise due to a lower cloud base (it was a back-built one).

8/10 for me.

Quite a rare sight. Nearly all of Europe lightning free, except us.
