Looks like this little beast is now the dominant cell, still plenty of activity elsewhere though!

Must have been so close to a downpour and hail but rain barely wetted the ground! Gust front and associated lightning will stay in my mind forever! However the most amazing aspect is the speed of the storm! I’d hazard a guess at 60 to 75mph!

Well, a good light show here but no direct hit and only a few drops of rain. Almost identical to July 3rd 2015. Bit of a shame, but at least I saw some lightning.

One thing to note was the lack of forks and how fast it moved through. Not seen storms move that quick for a long time.

July 3rd did have a direct hit initially at least, Bournemouth got it directly off a wave in the channel and then 1-3 waves pushed through the country through the night.

We have a small arc heading our way in the South East but it looks fairly tepid compared to the wonders of the west. Some of the webcams are showing great stuff out there! We might get a bit more later.

Strobe lightning, most of it cloud to cloud, quiet thunder, saw some upward lightning as well!

Can see constant lightning to my south now, its lovely sat out in the garden with a refreshing breeze watching the light show, plus being in the country we have very little light pollution here.

I didn't get the direct hit then either unfortunately. Swanage flooded and had something like 30mm of rain in under an hour and I only recorded 2mm.

Lightning now starting directly above and closing the gap as it heads off - looking good for Gloucester area soon.

I am currently near Bath and have been woken by insane storm, between 60 and 120 strikes per minute, continuous thunder.

People always talk about July 3rd yet all we had were 2 very distant flashes of lightning despite places 20 miles away reporting a "huge" storm. Methinks they exaggerated somewhat.......

Got some nice flashes to my SW and SSW but considering calling it a night. Windows opening so if anything trundles in I’m sure it’ll wake one of us.

Night all - enjoy what is proving to be one for the memory bank! Possibly the same week as the hottest UK temperature ever???

looking out of my rear window towards Dudley I can see faint flashes off to the south , flashes over the back of Dudley and more flashes towards Wolverhampton .

Had this one right over me! Was quite an experience. Constant lightning and rumbling and exceptionally heavy rain.

I was on the South Coast in Central Bournemouth when it made it to landfall, the data for that initial part of the storm was amazing and it carried on for ages across the country too. Wasn't just us that got it, seemed to be many places very widespread, what we got was very intense though.
