Even though I’m 99.9% sure I’m out of the firing line, it’s genuinely nice to see some of you storm starved folk having fun. Enjoy!

I'm not having fun *sobs uncontrollably*

Providing they don't die out then it looks good for here in the North Midlands later tonight.

Anyone east of a line Cambridge - London, go to bed.....

 This has been painful...

But I wont deny, even just watching this unfold, and hearing everyone's reports, is incredible! Could go down as a classic UK t-storm night... Just... Not here.

Had another 10 maybe distant flashes and 1 quite big elevated flash. 2 rumbles of thunder. Air so still and stars above me still lol

Keep an eye out on the stuff out to the South/West in case it expands eastwards.

Anyone further NE of Birmingham, do you think there is any point staying up?

3-4am might be when they occur further north

First of two ‘arms’ went through. Peak rain rates over 100 mm/hr but only lasted about 5 mins - they’re scooting along as expected.

Lighting is more ‘veiled’ than during the top-tier 2014 events and thunder much quieter.

Some powerful wind gusts though!

Well, a good light show here but no direct hit and only a few drops of rain. Almost identical to July 3rd 2015. Bit of a shame, but at least I saw some lightning.

One thing to note was the lack of forks and how fast it moved through. Not seen storms move that quick for a long time.
