Any lightning seen in Shrops will be from the tops of those cells in Wales...

I’m in Wenlock in an elevated SSW facing position.  Frequent distant flashes to the SW probably the cells showing up in the Knighton area.

Haven't heard any thunder yet, it's all out in the channel for now but coming in.

Sense it might stall over the channel then make a break for it inland? defo moving closer and closer though currently.

Blimey!!! Can see the sky lighting up down south from here in Fleet - and we're not even elevated. Me going out for a little chase around: soooooo excited to see first proper storm of the year

You#d be surprised how still, quiet and calm it is, I am looking at the i.o.w right now, SW...

It's not stalling, it's moving. Although the cells from Northern France seem to be re-organising on their western edges. Whilst they move in a N-NE direction.

Wow! It’s kicking off big time!! Fasten your seatbelts everyone. It’s going to be a noisy night for quite a few!

Yup very impressive, especially that cell near Exeter, clearly the storms over France were showing where the cap was easing. Should be a good night for many after a sluggish start to the storms.

Enjoy your bath! God, do I need another shower. The sweat just never stops. Even if there are no storms anywhere, it's gonna be a killer night for those who don't have a fan by their beds!

I must be the only person in the UK sitting with a blanket over their legs

I would say within the next 30 minutes, it won't be quiet anymore. Haha.

I'm not sure what I make of chances further north towards Midlands, Northwest England, because the cells that are firing up are rapidly collapsing further north, despite warmer surface temperatures and higher humidity. I can only presume they just have not got the legs to last. This may be the defining feature of the night, we will see.

Why does this not surprise me ,  might stay up until 1200 just to see if anything happens ,   Maybe around 1.30am onwards perhaps is when things *might* go thundery  , but this is the storm diminisher North West, so its not a done deal

That reminds me of early July 2015. I could see flashes of lightning in the sky constantly from a storm South of Peterborough

Crazy when you see stuff like that!

I remember watching the midlands anvil flashing on 27th May last year.. from 100 miles away!
