MCS to hit the SE overnight? Can you imagine it. It’s not unusual for things to be shunted east at the last minute.

My concern is once those echoes go they should literally pop suggesting they struggling to break the cap in place. Next hour or so critical for the SW imo.

Nocturnal cooling should help weaken the cap I think. You will usually find a rapid development once it does break, with reds on the radar almost instantly. Lightning usually follows shortly after. I’ll never forget how rapid the Bournemouth storm broke out. From nothing to 100 strikes per minute within half an hour.

I remember clearly that people were asking the same questions then and even shouting bust before 11PM!! Lol

Not likely looking at the skies here...like a hot sunny Mediterranean evening, not a puff or haze in sight.

In the past hour or so, the breeze has died away, and dark clouds have been edging in from a westerly direction. Got some towers starting to go up, and it's quite humid here, but clouds are moving quite slowly at the moment.

aha, unless there's anaprop issues, the first discrete cells have fired in the english channel west of the channel Islands

edit, unsurprisingly, there are anaprop issues....bugger ....lol.....as they've just disappeared

Took this photo about an hour and a half ago in Surrey. Hard to see because of the sun, but some clouds popping up. Maybe, I was wrong after all and the SE does see some activity. IMG_20190723_190352.thumb.jpg.bd2ac0c440fd9f5bb8466d7131b3d901.jpg

Depends whose garden... :whistling:

Getting a lot warmer here now - I think that stuff from the earlier burst of activity over the channel has passed by

That’s good. I should get whatever you have about 3 hours afterwards.

Definitely a loaded gun type atmosphere out there. It’s just a matter of when it goes pop!

It’s unbearable here. The only day that comes remotely close is 19/07/16
