A couple of things I will point out while doing some comparisons.. the Arome is already at the back of the race regarding developments. The showery activity coming out of France is a lot further West than what the UKV shows. Answers on a postcode!

It's very much a now cast situation!

It Certainly is   It does look like developments are happening alot earlier than the models anticipated   The latest Icon shows  the showers from Northern France but not till this evening

showers showing up nicely north east of Brest. I wonder if we're going to get two bites this evening as this seems awfully early. Ideally i need something to kick off around the cherbourg Peninsula. If it can wait until like 7pm that would be fab.

Will take a good few hours to cross the channel. I was going to have a nap after work but I don’t think that’s gonna happen now

Have recently invested in a MIOPS High Speed trigger, which was meant for Netweather's Arizona Monsoon chase in Phoenix next month, however I might get chance to play with it tonight given being South of Manchester. Will share pics if the storms come off and I get the camera settings right!

Mike.

Sky going very milky towards Ivybridge way. I think this could spring a surprise here later on

I was hoping to do exactly the same thing haha. I'll look at the radar when I get home at 4ish then make a decision from there.

The convection over Brest is absolutely tearing along - forward speed 50-70mph, get a storm, blink and you’ll miss it! I’m assuming storms that do form with such high forward motion could have some very gusty winds associated.

There has not been an overhead storm in Belper since early on the July 4th 2015. There is a good possibility that drought could end tonight just over 4 years later. I may possibly be somewhere further west though, maybe the SW edge of the Peak District.

Agreed, at this rate storms will be smashing into Scotland come tea time and it’ll all be over

It looks like the Met Office has finally issued the storm warning for overnight. I hope everyone (or mostly everyone) sees a storm tonight as I feel very storm-spoilt here. I can definitely watch the storms overnight on lightningmaps.org without getting tired due to the timezone here.

Tiniest puff of accas about 5 miles west, nothing to the east, suggesting I’m right on the edge of the unstable air.

I think our storm potential is more based off what's just coming out of Spain into the Bay of Biscay... and may I add.. seems to be wrapping around itself like it's some sort of whirlpool .
