Nice drop of rain here at the moment. It's washing all of the dust away that I made whilst doing work in the garden over the last month.

Absolutely pouring it down, biblical amounts of rain here in Maidstone in the past half hour. Have to change my location to Maidstone as I'd forgotten to do it until now! Back to the rain, this is on a par with June 25th, 2016, May 31st, 2016 and August 9th, 2017 in terms of prolonged intense rainfall. Street is a river and I'm at the bottom of it! Water close to my front door.

I cannot believe that that ppn in the SE isn't kicking out sferics more than it should,it looks insane.

Looks like the system has travelled further north than first indicated. The rain has really picked up where I am. Don't know if I'll hear any thunder, but you never know.

That batch just SW of Eastborne is getting heavier, might be a long night for the SE.

West of Brest also firing up but i think that will certainly pass the uk.

Rain pretty heavy now, I don’t hold much hope for lightning though.

Woken up by the sound of torrential rain just before 3am, several flashes of lightning  and distant rumbles of thunder now here in St Leonards on Sea.

Cell that’s recently produced those few sferics moving in now - didn’t hear the thunder but the rain is turning heavy and the sky darker. Leading edge had a pronounced looking anvil. Very humid outside too! Fingers crossed for something as it’s moving through as it looks quite surface based to me

Wow! Very close thunder all of a sudden and pitch black to the west!

That’s the end of my Saturday lie in...

Woken by thunder at just after 3am in Hawkinge, then torrential rain came through with multiple flashes and some fairly close thunder for around 15/20 mins. Had 36mm rain overall.

Well it appears that’s our lot. Thought today would bring renewed chances for our area but I’ve got a feeling it will all build convectively as it passes over and deliver the goods further east - as has been the pattern since christmas

I think today will be very messy but also eventful.  It's already extremely humid in London despite last night's torrential rain.  I don't know how it feels further west
