Camera poised again after last week's double funnel cloud

You'll become our resident tornado chaser! Hope you get lucky again.

Meanwhile, a five-mile wide circle of intense high pressure is building exactly over Reigate, Surrey, ready for Friday/Saturday. After the recent fiascos here I'm not holding out any hope...

Exciting. I'm currently in Egham, Surrey. (in)Accuweather have just updated 51% T-Storm chance for around 18:00 tonight.

Forecasts also show reasonable precipitation over the SE for tomorrow and then T-Storms Saturday.

With all this high pressure building, I have high hopes for this weekend.

Tomorrow afternoon looks interesting around here. Saturday will be dry and sunny again as it’s a westerly flow. I’m sure I’ve said that before.

No worries, I'll do it now. I thought I had when I created account, but obviously not.

A really short albeit intense storm just went over Aberdeen about 20 minutes ago (15:00-15:05), couldn't have lasted longer than two minutes. 3 really loud bangs, possibly the loudest i've heard which vibrated the house with one nearby flash followed by heavy hail. The strikes did show on Lightningmaps, but have now disappeared.

According to BBC Weather, Tuesday night into Wednesday next week is looking juicy.

Thunder heard and passing heavy showers.  Thunder quite loud even as the cloud moves away.

My hope now for late Friday is starting to ease away now. Wouldn't the Met Office issue a warning of thunderstorms for this period?

I really wouldn’t rely on that as a promise of whether anything would or would not happen. Better to stick to more reliable forecasts from the likes of Estofex, CW, Estofex and UKWW.

I’ve never relied on Meto forecasts. Don’t even look at them lol

most recently I’ve been using Ventusky - and I love it

Looking forward to what Estofex thinks...

Hopefully the over night risk increases for us, love watching storms rolling in during the day but they always seem better at night, that said BBC are still showing storms from 7pm-12am tomorrow

Storms forecast from 10pm down here (Portsmouth) however Bournemouth is showing higher chance?? Road trip might be in order.

There is something to be said for a well-structured storm during daylight hours. Night is obviously better for the clarity of the lightning but if the cloud base is dark enough it can still be spectacular even if the sun’s still up.

Hoping for a general upgrade in severity over the next 12hrs - but don’t want to be too greedy

Direction of storms might work in your favour, sliding ENE parallel with the M3 - possibly even more eastwardly than that.

Always a good track for our area

Aye, guess we'll just have to wait for radar watching tomorrow as we know from past storms they sometimes don't always go with the models

I don't even know why I'm complaining, I'm heading to Gatwick Airport in the early hours of Saturday so I could get lucky.
