Send that to the BBC or Met Office. Will be interesting to see what they say caused it.

Looks like a dry storm mate. Quite common in setups like this with intense dry heat from an arid airsource.

2014 had a few over Northants. A spectacular occurrence, but dangerous for starting fires.

Day 2 Convective Outlook

VALID 06:00 UTC Sun 30 Jun 2019 - 05:59 UTC Mon 01 Jul 2019

ISSUED 19:17 UTC Sat 29 Jun 2019

ISSUED BY: Dan

Broad upper troughing covers the British Isles on Sunday, with the main upper vortex to the northwest of Scotland. A well-forced cluster/line of convection may be affecting Orkney then Shetland during Sunday morning, with the potential for a few sporadic lightning strikes. Otherwise very little lightning activity is expected through this forecast period due to limited cloud depth and weak instability. The greatest risk (albeit low) is considered to be in a zone from Northern Ireland and across southern Scotland during the afternoon / early evening hours.

Yes , wonderful cloud scapes ahead of the main trough/front, Ac Floccus and large Cu tops almost like Ac Cas. One pair of lightning discharges SW of me that tracked just south of here, saw one flash about 10m agao with 10 mins of large isolated spots of rain. T=25.7 and Td=21 C and blue sky appearing to my west again. Ineresting cloud again with dense Ci with Mammatus from it, not often I've seen that.

A 3rd line of heavy rain through N Ireland - no lightning this time unlike earlier!

Strange cloud formations all day with distinct banding visible at times

Yeah the skies are nice and textured though you wouldn't have thought this line would be capable of producing any T+L but hey it's a nice surprise and ending to the heat!

Please don't say "ending to the heat" we've hardly had any  keep the heat and the convective juices flowing fingers crossed more sparks ignite for people tonight,

Some Ac starting to form here, thought bit too late sadly even if it is currently 27C. Still waiting for cells to erupt over N England - looking a bit quiet at the moment...
